Well I guess it all comes down to atmosphere and major, as both are great schools for pre-med. As far as Biology, you’ve got some great choices at Georgetown. You can major in the regular Biology (which also has sub-concentrations in Biochemistry, Molecular, and Cellular Biology (BMCB) or Ecology, Evolution, and Behavioral Biology (EEBB)), as well as Biology of Global Health, Neurobiology, or Environmental Biology. The Bio department at Georgetown isn’t as big as at other big name science schools, but it is the most popular pre-med major, as at most colleges. Facilities are ok, they’re going to start building a new Science Center after the MSB building is done (hopefully). What makes up for the facilities are the opportunities for research. You not only have great professors in the Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Human Science (NHS) departments, but you have the entire GU Medical Center right next door, with tons of opportunities for medical basic science research, which a number of Bio majors do. They’ve also added some interesting new biology courses, such as Cell Biology of Cancer, Functional Human Anatomy (with cadaver lab), Neurophysiology, Advanced Biochemistry, and Biological Physics.

As you know, there’s the early acceptance program, if you’ve got top grades in most of the pre-med courses by sophomore year, which allows you to know you’re in somewhere, and if you accept, you won’t have to take the MCAT.

There’s also GERMS, Georgetown Emergency Response Medical Service. You get to train as an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B), and they respond to the campus and surrounding community, and have ambulances (you can train to be a driver as well). It’s really cool (I was in it), as you get to learn some basic clinical skills, and see another side of college life. BC also has an EMT group, by they ride around in bikes, GERMS has 2 ambulances. Lot’s of pre-meds get their EMT certification, but the key is to actually USE it, and GERMS provides you with MANY opportunities to do so.

DC is a nice city, Boston’s probably better, but Georgetown is in a nice area.
