How do some people become eligible as Guaranteed Transfers? I don't get how this works. Someone care to explain? Thanks.

The college you applied to offers you a GT (if I am not mistaken it is only the contract colleges?), you do nothing to become "eligible" except, you apply and they decide to not accept you for admittance for the term you applied for but instead they allow you to spend 1-2 years (it varies on the college) at another institution in which case you need to satisfy certain requirements (GPA and course) then you can attend Cornell after spending the designated time at another school.

Are contract colleges the NY state-funded ones (CALS, Humec, etc)? How does one know if he/she is a GT or not?

They would specify that in the decision letter…

Ya I'm a GT and u find out when regular decision people do. Some waitlistees become gts as well (I'm pretty sure). 40-50 people go to Cornell ILR as GTs. It's gonna be greattt (Although I'll miss the HELL out of my friends at the college I'm at right now...only part I hatttte thinking about). But GT is the most amazing opportunity ever invented...ever...in the world...in all time. :)

hahah...yeah, i strongly agree ;) we’re almost there lol…I can't wait, although I will miss some things too!
