Of course this is just about impossible. But is there some sort of accomplishment that would alomost guarantee an acceptance letter from harvard. How about writing a best seller or saving a falling baby?

Nothing is guaranteed, not even your next breath.

Even in quantum mechanics The location of a particle isnt guaranteed, it’s just a wave of probability

So any accomplishment wouldnt guarantee anything just increase probability

It’s all a numbers game

Discovering a cure for cancer, any type will do, should probably be a free pass

maybe I should rephrase the question.
What will make one stand out from the myriad of equally qualified and more qualified applicants.
Honestly I’ve read too many horror stories of the valedictorians with 2400s being rejected and it scares me

Ok, here are the following things that will give you an almost 95% chance of being accepted to Harvard. Of course your g.p.a should be over 3.7 and an SAT of over 2000 for this to qualify.

RSI(Research Science Institute)
Making it to the international level at the bio, chem, physics olympiad.
Winning Intel or Siemens

That’s all I can think of right now.

Here you go:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/harvard-university/205530-how-get-into-harvard-harvard-student.html?highlight=harvard

Really? If it was that easy, then a lot of people would get into Harvard then

Well, around 2000 people each year get in. So, yes, a lot of people get into Harvard.

female, pull a sub 7 erg, have a 4.0, and a 2100+ SAT. I guarantee you’ll get in to 1 if not all of these:HYPS

or male, pull a sub 6:00 erg
if you row, that is
but then again you’d probably be spending your time racing against all the other olympians who have your stats

^^sub 7 2k?

TBH, that actually does sound pretty impressive. Even though 2100 isn’t that high.

If you’re a tall girl and you pull a sub 7:00 2k and have decent grades, you’ll get an early write from wherever you want
if you’re short and you’re pulling that, then your choices are fewer, but you can still get an early write from an ivy

What is sub 7:00 and 2k?

you’ve forgotten this:

A 2k erg test, in other words how fast you can “row” 2000 meters on a rowing (ergometer) machine
It’s the gold standard for rowers everywhere

Save a falling baby? You’re kidding, right?

…if you guys haven’t research, let me just inform you that there are not that many intel grand winners, international olympiad medalists, or rsi invitees…

^^agree, that’s the point. and the rowing example can be applied to other sports, academics and arts for HYPS…be exceptional at one thing!

on my daughters team 5 athletes were choosing between HYPS, and one of them was not a recruited athlete. But she was one of the 100 or so kids in the world that scored at perfect 2400. Be exceptional at something! It greatly increases your odds of admissions.

^
There are certainly more than a 100 or so kids in the world who get a 2400 every year. I know 3 from one year, and I don’t know all that many people!

it’s been between 50 and 100 in the last couple years I think the most ever when the test was easier was 400. It doesn’t really matter if it’s 50 or 400, 2.5 million kids worldwide take the test! one of 400 is pretty unique!

and the girl I mentioned was accepted to HYPS on academics only, all though she is a good athlete just not good enough to be recruited.

the competition is tough. my daughter got a 2300 on her SAT and is consider one of the top three athletes in the country in her sport. These schools are admitting rock stars so be exceptional if you want in

^ Huh. Who knew?
