Guarantee Transfer/Waitlist difference

Anyways I called the admissions office this afternoon and finally put the waitlist/guarantee transfer question to rest.

So the paramid goes like this, accepted students, Waitlist students, then the guaranteed transfers. The only difference between Waitlist students and guarantee transfer students is the waitlist students still have a chance to attend in the fall whereas the guarantee transfer do not. But if you are waitlisted and unable to make it off the waitlist, you will definately become a guarantee transfer.

I called the hotel school (One I applied to) so I think it still might differ between schools. So yeah, if you are confused, definately call the schools before you freak out or something.

say what? if ur not accepted off the waitlist, your guaranteed a GT?

Heckkkkkkk no.

Umm I called the admissions office today, but i honestly think it depends on hte school thou.

yeah thats what i thought; all the poeple i know that got GT were early decision applicants who got deferred and then a GT, and they all applied to statutory schools

im not saying these are the only ones that get it, but it seems that very often it is the case

It probably depends on the school. ILR seems to have a lot of GTs this year . . .

Ya not every college even does GT first of all. Second of all I remember reading threads saying that just because you are waitlisted doesn't mean you'll get GT...so I guess it really depends on the college.

For the bigger colleges like CAS and Engineering, there is no way they can offer GT to everyone who is waitlisted.
For colleges like HumEc and ILR . . . maybe

does anyone know about CALS???

CALS does offer the GT option.

coool but does anyone know if anyone on the waitlist gets the GT?

Wait. So can you be both waitlisted and GT'd at the same time?

No
When RD Decisions come out, you can be Admitted, Rejected, Waitlisted, or GT'd
After the waitlist spots are all filled, the waitlistees who weren't offered spots COULD be GT'd

Because someone I know said she got both the waitlist and GD option. I guess someone lied lol...

that would be pretty sweet . . . you would still have a chance at the freshman class, and if not, you're guaranteed a spot in your sophomore year

Well it seemed like when i called them up im guaranteed a spot for spring semester freshman year and I still have a chance at the freshman class...but maybe thats just for that one school. CAS is prolly too big for ppl to do that.

Yes there was actually one thread in the millions where someone mentioned that their child was a GT. During the Summer Cornell offered them a spot on the 2nd semester freshman year. It's all just the luck of the draw when it comes to GT...(speaking of, some GTs actually have to wait TWO years before transfering...although most of the people who got that are from past years and I actually havn't read anyone getting that this year...hm...probably a more qualified applicant pool I guess...)

i finally received my official letter from the hotel school. and they offered me "preferred transfer option" to the hotel school for the spring of 2007. after completing one semester at a 4 year college and achieving a 3.0 gpa with no grade below c. good night, and good luck.

One semester? 3.0? C? wow the colleges really are really different in their GT stuff. I hear the hotel school is really good, so great job and good luck!!! (Kinda jealous of that whole one semester thing lol :) )

i was offered "preferred transfer" to the hotel school for fall of 07 with the same requirements as thecheezeburger
