Guaranteed admission?

<p>Hi. My friend got denied from the Engineering major at Purdue University. However, he was given another chance for admission for a different major. Of the options available for him, he chose the following. </p>

<p>"Please add me to the waitlist for fall 2010 admission to the major I selected on my application. If I am never moved from the waitlist to be admitted for fall, I accept admission for spring semeser 2011 (beginning in January 2011) to the major I selected on my application."</p>

<p>Does this mean that his admission to Purdue University in spring is guaranteed? Or does he have to re-apply?</p>
