Guaranteed Med Program (GW) or Stanford?

got in both. which one would you guys lean towards. please help!

oh, such a hard decision.i cant imagine making that decision, only one advice that if you really want to be md go to gw.also how good your scores are.If you have siblings, friends,or family look at their experience.

wow first off congrats that’s a pretty sweet situation you’re in either way

my contribution here is to remind you that practically anyone at stanford (and any top top tier school) who wants to attend med school and makes a decent effort will get in. the academics and research opportunities and advising system and etc at those institutions result in accept rates of well over 90%…

basically you still need to work hard if you attend Stanford, but you’ll no doubt get a solid undergrad education and end up at a med school (potentially of GW’s level or higher)

My advice is to not place TOO much weight in the allure of a free med school admission (keep in mind, are there conditions with GPA/MCAT?). Examine both schools for their undergraduate experience and see if you’re really willing to have the GW undergrad experience or if you’re doing it just because of the package

GW is a good school, to be fair, but doesn’t really offer the same kind of education Stanford does. That, plus if you change your mind any time in the next four years, you’ll end up missing out on the coveted Stanford diploma.

“my contribution here is to remind you that practically anyone at stanford (and any top top tier school) who wants to attend med school and makes a decent effort will get in.”

not exactly true. If you are hooked on becoming a doctor, which you probably are since you got into an MD program, then i would definitely recommend GW.

You may want to keep in mind that sometimes these ivy leagues are hard as hell and college grades etc. cannot be predicted by high school. Thus, you may not perform well in Stanford and end up getting below 3.5ish (average medical school gpa). There are many people i know who have not gotten into medical school including a cousin with a biology major from Harvard.

On the other hand, in GW, you will have guaranteed admission. You will have more times since they will only require a minimum gpa of probably 3.3ish to stay in. You will probably have an easier tiem on MCATs unless they waive those which is even better.

GW hands down.

Is this the GW/GW or SBU/GW program?

i think the question boils down to: how much do u want to work for the name?

med school is so unpredictable. as we all know add comm is unreliable! well congrats and ask others,i def would go to gw

Don’t forget that 3.5 is the mean GPA, meaning there’s a lot of kids (about half of them, in fact) which have GPAs below that. Horror stories from students such as yourself are exceedingly rare.

bdm actually has a good point…but exactly wut will ur suggestion be?
