Guaranteed Merit Based Scholarships

Hello, I am a rising senior applying to colleges and was wondering what schools have guaranteed merit scholarships. I know that the university of Oregon has a program but was wondering what other schools have similar programs.
My stats:
ACT : 30
GPA : 4.1
Thanks in advance

I think if you want guaranteed substantial merit aid, you should take the ACT again and aim for a 33. My opinion.

What guaranteed awards does Oregon have?

Hundreds of colleges have guaranteed merit aid based on stats. What is your home state? Have you asked your parents how much they can afford? Look at the pinned threads at the top of this forum for some info.

How much aid do you need?

Note that some colleges use unweighted GPA for these scholarships.

@“Erin’s Dad” Probably in the range of 35,000 a year. Home state is California

@Sodaty

I’ve been reading about and researching guaranteed merit awards for a while. I have never heard of a guaranteed merit award at Oregon…and certainly not for OOS students. Are you sure? If so, could you post the details as they might help someone else too.

You are fortunate that you live in CA, with so many excellent choices for college…and all within your price point as an instate student. I do hope you plan to apply to some of your instate options.

Why not go to a CSU?
Or check out Western Undergraduate Exchange for lower tuition in nearby states.

University of Arizona has guaranteed merit based on unweighted GPa and ACT/SAT scores

You would have a merit scholarship for 4 years at Kansas State with those numbers and be under $35,000 a year with housing. Have to keep a 3.5 GPA each year to keep going. Very doable. My son has that from OOS and it has been great.

Is $35,000 per year your price limit? If so, why not just attend a UC or CSU? Or, for many majors, start at a community college and then transfer to a UC or CSU to finish your bachelor’s degree?

Again I ask…what are the automatic guaranteed scholarships at Oregon, and what are the criteria to receive them???

“Merit” scholarships are only half the equation. You need to look at the net price after accounting for FA and any possible merit. Beware the over priced schools which advertise the generosity of aid but whose net price is still very high. Your filter should be the $35,000 that your family can afford and for proper financial comparison, any loan amount in FA in the NPC should count for these purposes as no aid at all.

Summit and Apex: https://financialaid.uoregon.edu/summit

Both the apex and summit say “you will be considered automatically”.

They don’t say “you will receive”.

Are these awarded to everyone with these stats? Or not? It’s not clear to me.

University of South Carolina, for example, “considers” applicants with certain stats for their scholarship awards, but they are not given to every applicant with those stats.
