"Guaranteed Transfer Option"

well... there's myspace, xanga, facebook, aim, email, phone, and airtran. The point is, you can always keep in touch with ur buddies. Im sure those new buddies u make will not wanna lose touch with a potential ivyleaguer!

Lemme tell u it definitely is hard, but they understand. I'm just happy that I had the opportunity to meet such great people. Despite this, I am still very excited about ending up at Cornell (even if I want this to last just a bit longer cuz I love my friends). It's worth it tho!!!

Congrats, GTs!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't even know about my GT until a week later. I didn't see a "congratulations" in the letter so I just tossed the letter aside. A week later, my mom told me about the GT.

I felt like a fool. ROFL

I've got a GT for Bio in CALS. I plan to go to a state u (best among state u's ^^). BTW I should maintain a 3.5 GPA! Anyone knows why the bio GPA should be much higher than other majors?

yeah i got GT for AEM at CALS too. any details on the GT like when to apply or whether we have to fill out the same transfer apps as normal applicants do?

I'm not sure, but for ILR, it specifically said that we do NOT have to re-apply, etc.

In the information I got, it said that we'd receive a short application to complete in December of this year--nothing like what we've already had to complete.

But if so, do we have to write any more essays? I know regular transfer applicants, do, but we've already written about "why we want to go to ILR"...

im hotel GT. i dont think we have to do anymore of that stuff. down here its called to capp program. guarenteed automatic admission next yr if you meet the standards.

DOes anyone know if we can take like a Cornell Summer College or take the required units earlier in the summer so we can transfer earlier...like in the spring?? I want to go CORNELL now!!!!

lol AEM is 3.5? Is that a new GT system? I thought ILR was highest w/ a 3.3 cuz this is the first time I heard of AEM. Trust me, if ur smart enough to get a GT to Cornell ur smart enough to get a 3.5 at a lesser university. N

ot to put any pressure on any of u, but if u screw up and get below a 3.0 (hotel), 3.3 (ilr), 3.5 (aem), ect...then u have ur GT status removed and u r put into a normal transfer pool...and if u can't meet those gpas than u probably won't get in competing against transfer students w/ much higher gpas. So just be smart about ur next year. U can have fun and everything, but just remember where u can go the next year. I had a TON of fun this year, but I still made sure to get the right gpa and I can't wait to go to Cornell. Best of luck everyone and congrats!

i'm also a Hotel GT. I have yet to receive my official letter from Cornell, but i was wondering if anyone could tell me if we have to have all grades B or better in addition to the 3.0 GPA requirement (aka, can we have like half As and half Cs, or does it have to be all Bs or better)??

hmmm...for ILR you have to have b's or better...might be the same case for other colleges! anything under a b would take away ur GT status...

my mom ripped away my other rejections
but she notice that cornell's small envelope was thicker than the other ones
^^

Figgy, my letter fot AEM GT says 3.0 GPA and 3.5 for biological sciences

yeah, mine says 3.0 for AEM too.

Well it looks like now I will be using GT option most likely for Cornell ILR... was just rejected by NYU Stern. Looking forward for Cornell now!!

BTW: saved 500th post for Cornell! :)

haha glad to hear diehldun, I'm sure ull love it!

Hi, parent here. My college freshman has sent in all of the documentation and is waiting with baited breath for official notification "yeah" or "nay" from ILR. The GPA was well above 3.3 but there was a single B- in a course Cornell requested be taken during the wait year.

Has anyone received official acceptance to start Fall, 07? Does anyone know when the acceptances are sent out from Cornell? Is it via online or through the mail? Thanks!

For those of you accepting GT; it's a great opportunity BUT DON"T TAKE ACCEPTANCE FOR GRANTED. The first year in college is difficult as you adjust, if you take extra classes that sound interesting be careful because you don't want to get below a B. It's harder than it sounds and there are no exceptions - the rules as stated in your GT letter are set in stone; miss something and you're back in the regular pile of transfer applications. Good luck to all; you have nothing to lose by accepting GT since you can always say no if you're happy where you are.

If I remember right last year they come out at least a month later than regular acceptances (perhaps along with transfer acceptances? Not sure when these are sent out). At least that's wat I can pick up from my memory.

I'm a GT to ILR also! I wish ur son the best of luck!

so the GT statement of intent is non-binding?
