Guaranteed Transfer

Lemme just give yall a bit of background info..

Technically I'm still a freshman in college. I started at Boston College last semester majoring in Poly Sci (pre-law). Prior to enrolling there, I appled to Cornell as well. But for this upcoming Fall semester.

They waitlisted me. :(

I happened to also apply to BC for the spring semester and luckily they admitted me(obviously!). Like I said that is my current school.

During last semester though, interestingly, Cornell apparently could not admit me for the upcoming fall semester, but did offer me a Guaranteed Transfer if I did some stuff. My parents received the letter while I was at school and told me. It consisted of getting at least a 3.2GPA at a school for like 6 credits I believe? Problem is, I have no idea and my parents being the parents they are (haha, I still love em tho) lost the letter! So I have no idea what the requirements are if I wanted to transfer. I'm thinking I should just call Cornell?

I'm also at a slight dilemma. I'm not sure if I should even pursue it! I am pretty happy at Boston College. But ya know, Ivy League is Ivy League. Plus I wish to go to law school and I want more than anything to go to an Ivy League law school. I feel like Cornell will help me achieve this more. What do you guys think?

I just kinda wanna know if it is worth changing schools and everything...
I wanted to transfer after this year. So I would be starting Cornell in Fall 2010

Another problem...I only have a 3.0GPA after one semester at BC!!! I know, I screwed up...I honestly party wayyy too much. Obviously I would change this at Cornell!! I know when to be serious...I just happened to get a C+ on one of my finals last semester. Ya I know, awful.

SO basically I have to find out the requirements for transfer, raise my GPA, and reapply? Is it worth it???

Honestly I do wanna go to Cornell...but I am very content at BC. I wanna know if the benefits make it so I should transfer over not transfer....

stay and party. Law school will take away your soul and you’ll be glad you had a few years to be irresponsible.

well regardless if i go to cornell or not i am going to law school!!!

there is no if ands or buts about it … i cant see myself being anything but a lawyer

Well I was a Cornell GT and went to Boston College for my first year so I feel like I’m fairly knowledgeable about your dilemma. First off, I would call Cornell about the specific requirements but I believe that for your major, you need to maintain at least a 3.0 (not sure since I was a biological science major and had to maintain a 3.5, and they may have changed the requirements this year). I, personally, was relatively happy at Boston College, and was even in their honors program, but decided that I wasn’t in love with it enough to forgo my Cornell acceptance. Realistically, Cornell will open more doors than BC (though that isn’t to say that a BC degree won’t take you places) but if you are really in love with BC, I honestly wouldn’t transfer. The main problems that I had with BC were its lack of diversity and the fact that I didn’t feel as academically challenged as I would have liked. You don’t seem to have the same problems that I had so maybe it’s just worth it to stay put…

wow nesh. thanks for the advice…

can u tell me the steps you took to go from BC to Cornell?

I wanna know everything…like reapply and everything?

Call Cornell. They can help you out.
