I was looking at the UC transfer thread of acceptance, and some of them had a 'guaranteed transfer program' category. Can someone explain what this is, and how to get into one of these? I'm planning on attending a CCC and I intend to transfer to Berkeley/UCLA.

Some CCC's offer them some do not. You need to check with the CCC you are going to be attending.
Unfortunately, there are no guaranteed transfer programs to Berkeley or UCLA. UCLA has the TAP program but that does not guarantee admission...it only prioritizes your application.
I don't believe Cal has one...unless someone wants to elaborate on that. I'm not sure.
Which CCC are you attending?

Well, Pierce is the closest to my house, however, since SMC has higher transfer rates, I might go there...although I heard as long as you complete your prereqs it doesn't matter where to go to CCC.

Hi Metalhedd165, here's the list of TAP/TAG programs from SMC:

http://www.smc.edu/apps/Pub.asp?Q=601

metalhedd156-SMC's scholars program does have the TAG/TAP program...but i gotta say, coming from the valley where i live, the gas prices add up quick. pierce is a really good college though, as well as pasadena. is UCLA/UCB the two schools you are aiming for, or are you also looking at places like Oxy and USC?

I wouldn't mind USC actually, but its a tad more expensive...and I am also from the valley, so I think I might go to Pierce. BTW, thanks for that info byla.

OK, the reason why i asked is because pasadena and SMC have higher transfer rates to all of the schools included USC and Oxy, but Pierce is also a really competitive school as well. i think if i did it over i would probably go to pasadena because it is closer to where i am in the valley. SMC really does have a good transfer priority program though. good luck!
