I was wondering when I'll hear from Michigan. I know it says 12-14 weeks, but I also heard that it's faster for 'better' applicants. I realize that no one knows for sure, but if any of you have similar stats or just know a lot about the process, I'd appreciate a guess.

Application Complete: 01-16 (submitted in mid/late December)
SAT: 2260 (I think this translates to a 34 on the ACT)
Mich GPA: I haven't calculated it, but I think it's at least a 3.7 (I have all honors and APs, though)
Hardest classes possible plus outside study (it's on my transcript)
Great and unique ECs, great essay, etc.
Applied to the RC
OOS

Thanks! :)

its pretty late in the game. it could take the full 12 weeks. for having such high test scores you kind of screwed yourself out of a lot of scholarship possibilities

Yeah, when I asked about scholarships when I visited the lady leading the info session never mentioned the November 1 date, and I hadn't read about it until a couple weeks after the date. I planned on applying earlier, anyway, but due to personal problems I wasn't able. I am able to pay full tuition, though, so it's not a major concern.

I was just hoping I'd hear from Michigan soon! All my friends are into their early and rolling colleges, so I'm getting a little impatient.

Your chances of getting in are obviously good, but as Redbutton said, you really hurt yourself by applying late. The whole point of rolling admissions is to give early applicants great benefits, such as quick response, prefered admissions, scholarship money, dorm and first semester class preference, honors college and residential college consideration, academic programs (such as UROP) etc...

Anyway, I would say you will not hear back before March.

OK. Thanks, Alexandre. I'll try to be patient!

I was actually wondering how admission into the RC works. I hadn't planned on applying for it until, well, I actually applied. (When I visited they didn't really explain what it was or anything.) Do you think it will be filled up already? Do they inform you if you are accepted whether it was into the RC? Do they accept anyone who is accepted to Michigan who applies, or only people who seem best suited? Thanks!

Your chances at the RC are not gone, but as with all other things at Michigan, the earlier you request to be considered for it, the better your chances of getting it. And no, they do not accept everybody who applies to the RC, although they accept most of those who do. You have to show an interest in culture and the arts.

I wrote a lot about why I wanted to be in the RC, and my interests are in creative writing and music, for the most part. So, that's good.

I'll just keep my fingers crossed, then. Thanks a lot!

when i went to the info session back in november the woman explained that they make the most deferrals at this point in the game, and how the admissions office sometimes gets an app dated jan.15 or so, 35 ACT, 3.9 gpa and just has to defer them bc of such a late complete application.
