What would -2 in each section (Math, CR, and Writing) and an essay of 8 be?

drgrnave_
M: ~770 (curve should be more generous than usual)
CR: ~780-790-800 (depends on curve)
W: ~760-770? [not really sure on this one]

Thanks. Yeah I am not sure of writing scores either, but does anyone know how much the writing score is influenced by the Essay?

hey sushifureak
i think i got like 2 wrong and omitted 1 on the gridins. and maybe -4 on the mc -M
and like -5 on CR
and -5 on W (10 on the essay)
what would that be around?

drgnrave,

huge! Essay score is worth 30% of the writing section. However, on the bright side the college board breaks down your writing score when they send it to colleges showing your: m.c. score, essay score, and final score.

I only had -4 or -5 on the May test but my essay score was an 8 so I got a 660.

my own predictions

Math: 650 - 730
Reading: 660 - 740
Writing: 620-710

hopefully, I meet the high ends of those ranges....

topick-
M- that's -7 total.. 640-700 ~670
CR- 670-770 ~720
W- 670-800 ~735 (730)

so i just looked at the CB Book. the first set is the range the book gave me. the second score is the average of the two.

thanks sushifureak
i was guessing it would be around there lol

MC influences your score way more than essay. Acing the MC and a 9 on the essay gives you an 800. Missing two on the MC and an 8 essay should give you between 700 and 720.

I'll guess your scores as well, rave.

CR: 790
M: 770
W: 720

2280 overall.

Or. as I experienced. A 12 on the essay and -4 is a 760.

Nahh. Even on a really harsh scale (which I think this WR will be), 47 MC and 8E is like 720-740.

Critical Reading: 700-760
Math: 760-800
Writing: 750-800

Overall: 2210-2360

M: 670, but I'm crossing my fingers for a 700.
W: 750-800, last time I took it I got a 750 and thought I'd aced it, so I dunno
CR: 730-770.

im terrible at the math section. anyone have any idea how many you would have to get wrong/omit to get around a 600-630?

according to the CB book, a raw score of 41 out of 53 would be 600-660
that's like -10 and the -1/4 for each Q.

what about 4 omitted on CR, and maybe 6 wrong?

do you guys not have prep books?
I just check the charts in those and calculate.

but here, jp514: 630-710~670

uhhh...
Math - 750 (i skipped two)
Reading - 660 (im praying on this...skipped like 8 and got less than 6 wrong)
Writing - 600 (i always kind of blow this section off which is terrible i know)

So i suppose a 2010 would be generous. But i suppose i could get as low as 1900.
Im living on a prayer...

^ Honestly, I think your CR score would be lower with 15 raw points deducted, but best of luck.

yeah, 15 raw points off is probably 600-650. 620-630 to be safe.
