I was just wondering...say a guidance office makes some major error, for our hypothetical purposes here let's say they send the transcript of a junior of the same name as the applicant, what could the effects be?

Would the admissions officer call the high school and ask what happened? Would it be an auto-rejection because the admissions officer has so many applications to review that he or she cannot take the time to account for high schools' error?

There are other errors to consider, of course...so i guess the important question is, how much can a guidance counselor's error affect the accept/reject decision?

If a GC made that kind of a major error, they should write or call the school(s) and make the necessary correction for the student. Don't count on an AO to call your HS, be proactive and have the GC correct the mistake immediately.

What if the guidance counselor doesn't know he or she made that error? I mean...how would one find out? Only the admissions officer would see it after it's sent out.

I mean no disrespect, but no one is compelling you to answer. I do thank you for your original response though. I just feel as if it made an unrealistic assumption.

then you're screwed. no offense, but that's the way i see it. i mean, if she doesn't realize it and you obviously can't see it, who will see it?

the colleges won't be lazy enough to just reject you when they see a junior's transcript. they'll obviously see that something's wrong.

i don't even get why you asked this question if it's hypothetical. stop worrying about things that won't happen.
