Guidance Counselor Forms

Does UIUC require your counselor to fill out the guidance counselor form online or via mail?

You take it to your guidance counselor who sends it in by mail along with your official high school transcript and the signature page that you get on-line when you apply that you need to physically sign for your app.

So does that mean I can go ahead and send in the online application as soon as I finish it? Because then the mail is it's own separate thing correct?

So for example, if the online application comes out the 1st, I can go ahead and send it in on the 1st...and then just give my counselor the form which he can mail in when he gets the chance...right?

Yes, you can send the app as soon they start taking them. The way it usually works is that you fill out an app, then send via computer, then what comes up on the computer is the additional signature page and counselor form which you print out. You sign the signature page and take it and the counselor form to your counselor and request he fill out the form and send that form, your signature page, and your transcript to UIUC.

You should note that if you are looking at the issue of applying early because you have seen that is advisable, be aware applying early means getting everything in early -- the app, the signature page, the counselor form, your transcripts, and your official test score (ACT or SAT) because as long as any of those are missing, your application will not be deemed ready for consideration. In other words, if you send via computer the app in Sep and send everything else in late December, you have applied late.

Thank you so much! That was a really helpful post.
Yep I am fully aware of that, my test scores have already been sent in and like you said I'll send in the other stuff as soon as I get it. I am taking the ACT one more time so I guess if they get the score in time then that's good otherwise oh well.

Thanks again for all the details!
