First, I had to get all the universities I want to apply too. Then I had to write a personal statement. Then I had to get a letter of recommendation. Then I had to apply to all the schools. Now he just isn't bothering to send it to any of the schools. I mean I have been bugging him about it for almost two months now. I've done everything he has asked me too. Yet now he can't even bother doing me this one favor.

I mean I dunno what to do at this point. Everytime I ask him about it he says "oh thanks for reminding me" or "Ya I'll gonna send it later." I'm seriously thinking about just going harassment style on him and going into his office after every class until he sends it. What do you guys think I should do here? The deadline for one of the schools(texas tech) has passed already. How badly will this affect my chances of getting in? I doubt going to the principle will do anything. The whole school in general is run horribly.

Your counselor sounds like an ***hole, if the given information is true. He’s your counselor and it’s his job to send your package to the schools you’ve applied to. If you call the universities and try to work with the situation, by letting them know what is going on, you could work around it. Don’t lie through your teeth, either, because that can get you into some trouble. At this point, I am assuming you are applying under regular decision deadlines. When is/was the Texas Tech application due? It seems too early for the regular decision deadline to have passed, but then again, schools do have their own rules and policies.

2nd–Have your parents speak with the building principal ASAP. Go above the guidance counselor.

3rd–If the principal doesn’t help to get this problem resolved with the next day or two, have your parents call the superintendent of the school.

Wow unbelievable he still hasn’t send it yet. Even tho he promised me last monday it was going out.

I really didn’t want to do this, but I guess I’ll have to go to the principle. I gave him more than enough time. I didn’t want to get him in trouble or make a big deal outta it, but this is just getting ridiculous. I’ve had enough of this BS.

wait shouldnt you be good as long as you send in the application (like commonapp stuff) in on time? cant recs, transcript, school report come later?

Yes, but if the person delays too long they might take too long to arrive. Remember it has to be mailed. If the deadline is Jan. 1 and the counsellor mails it on January 15 it could take 2 - 3 days for it to get there and another week or two for the college to match it to your application. That’s all an unnecessary / stupid delay.

Not to mention I asked him to mail it a goddamn month ago. I could’ve just done everything else myself I didn’t need him to hold my hand the whole way.

If he didn’t mail it I’m gonna be really ****ed. I don’t go back to school till the 4th. If he tells me he didn’t mail it I’m not even gonna say anything to him. I’m just gonna go straight to the principle’s office. I’ll let him explain to the principle what the delay is all about.

In fact I’ll probably try getting in touch with the principle before that. Tho I don’t think he’ll be at the school during the break.

^^that sucks. im sorry you’re having such trouble with this guy…he needs to realize that what he does (or doesn’t do) could affect the next four years of your life. i agree with your plan to be assertive: if he hasn’t mailed them in, I think going to the principal’s office is the right thing to do. good luck

Have your parents email the principal and the superintendent. Keep the email and print a hardcopy for proof. Send a copy of the email along with an explanation of the circumstances to the admission’s department of the college.

Have your parents follow through with a phone call to the principal first thing Monday morning. Also, ask the principal to personally read the recommendation to make sure that the teacher has not written something false about you to get back at you for going above his head and bringing attention of the problem to the principal.

I would also seriously consider having a different teacher write a recommendation for you.
