Guidance mishap

Hey parents, I need some help:

So yesterday I drop off all of my applications to my guidance counselor for RD, in a neat little folder with a list of common and non-common applications and when they are due and what i need for each, etc. etc.

Now keep in mind this is a large school where most kids throw their applications on their GC desks on January 1st. So I give them a month of early notice, and figure all is well.

Well today, I go to guidance because my teacher wanted to know why a certain teacher wasnt given a common app form. So I explained to her that the certain teacher's rec was only needed for one application that required a math/sci one, and that i had already filed that application. So she goes over to the lady who puts it all together and sends it all out and tells her, to which she replies "I don't really care, it's all out anyways." So I start walking down the hall and realize that I don't know what she is talking about, as my teachers have never given their recommendation to the guidance office so its impossible. So I walked over to the lady and kindly said "I just wanted to clear something up, I don't need the rec from Teacher X at any of my schools"

And literally, she goes on a tirade...

"I'm sick of your face, I don't want to talk to you anymore. You have already had me filling 8 envelopes for your colleges, and I don't want to see you anymore, I just don't. The envelopes are sealed, and I'm not changing them and I'm not re-doing them."

So I once again, kindly stated "Well the thing is that I don't want to burden the admissions committee with all these extra recommendations, especially an extra recommendation from someone who doesn't know me all that well and I just needed because he was a science teacher. I'm really sorry about all this, I just don't want the letter in my file, because if they read only 2, they might not read one of the letters that I actually WANT them to. I'm really really sorry, but I just didn't realize it would automatically be sent out."

To which she replies "I don't really care what you did or didn't realize, its done and maybe you should try and figure this all out before you hand me the applications."

-Now, heres my trouble. I DO NOT want the colleges reading this recommendation. Its a fine recommendation, but I am already submitting an extra rec from my Congressman, as well as an extra essay! For some of the schools that only require ONE recommendation, that means I am submitting THREE extra recommendations! Should I call or email the schools and say please remove the recommendation from Teacher X from my file? I don't want them to think that its a bad recommendation, I just want it out of my file - because there is a good chance that the reader could pick up 2 recommendations and not pick up the 2 I want him to, and then ignore the 3rd which could be my best one! ahh, im hyperventilating.

also - what are your thoughts on supplemental essays? is it ok to send one with a little post it that says "if you have time..." or something like that?

Ilcapo, I have never heard where the college would not listen to you about a recommendation. Calling them seems to be the way to go to take out the ones you don't want. You know the recommendation from the science teacher is not bad (right?) so just tell them what your preference is. They could take a peek at the science teacher's reco while throwing it out - but it isn't bad, so who cares?

Do not sweat just let it go, if it is not negative then you have nothing to loose.
