You are right, schrizto, about other posters wanting to avoid certain types of people. I think that all of these kids need to be aware of how they are coming across. Colleges want to admit students who are willing to risk stepping outside their comfort zones.

I realize this is OOS, but you might want to look at SUNY-Binghamton. It’s still rather cheap OOS and has the rural, Mid-Atlantic, good academics but decent party scene parts down. It is bigger than you want, though.

Levirm, I understand how I am coming across, but I want to assure you that I am interested in other viewpoints and situations. That being said, I still want a school that I can find my niche in and be happy for all 4 years. Clearly, I should work on my communication skills before writing my app? I guess? Haha…

Thank you for your suggestion teenage_cliche.

bump sorry

Read “Blink” by Malcolm Gladwell.

Why do you think I should read it?

Blink would help you understand your first impressions of schools.

Nice, maybe I will check it out.

I just wanted to correct something that mom2collegekids said. A 730 on the Biology SAT II test for a ninth grader is an extremely good score. Regardless of the percentiles, most colleges understand that a ninth grader is often at a little bit of a disadvantage taking the test and would view such a score extremely favorably.

As to the OP’s statements, I prefer her type of blunt assessment of her own requirements to a poster who makes denigrating remarks about all New Jerseyans.

As for schools, I second Lehigh, Colby and Colgate. You might want to take a look at Lafayette, Union, Trinity and St. Lawrence for schools on the match/safety end. For a reach school, you might want to add in University of Virginia (depending on your SAT scores, you might have a chance). Except for being bigger than your original requirements, I think you would really like it.

Thank you very much for coming to my defense! & yeah UVA may be a good reach my only problem with it is the high in-state student rate.

Blink would also help you understand how people (like admissions officers) make instant judgements of you based on first impressions.

any more responses??

I have a response to the OP. Are you for real? Or, better yet, are your postings for real?

If so, I can’t imagine that there is a college or university in the country that will suit you.

^ I think there are. But her requirements are not PC. Trust me, I’m with you, justthefacts, I don’t get why anyone would want to only hang out with predominantly rich people either. But hey, people have different choices. The only reason, I think, people got mad at the OP was not because she was un-PC but because she was rude. Saying “I don’t care about your sons” to a mom is just plain rude.

A word of advice : Don’t insult regular posters. All of us (well, most ;)) will come to their defense.

When did i say that I wanted to hang out with predominantly rich people? You guys are reading me completely wrong.

Did I interpret this wrongly?

Yes, you did.
