Guide to those that didn't get into Chem 3AL

I know that there are a lot of frosh who did not get into Chem 3AL and many people have been asking about how summer school works and how they can get into Chem 3AL, so I figure I should make a thread about both.

Here are few facts about summer session and Chem 3AL
-Summer session registration begins Feb. 2nd through TeleBEARS for UC students
-You DO NOT have a summer TeleBEARS appointment, you just log on anytime starting Feb. 2nd and do your business
--You probably want to do your registration on the first day
-Chem 3AL has two labs a week most weeks and one lab a week some weeks during the summer
-Chem 3AL is offered during session C (June 22-August 14)
-There are 13 different Chem 3AL lab sections in order to facilitate lab-only students
-- 3 Morning labs, 4 Afternoon labs, 6 Night labs (yes the chem dept. took a cue from the MCB Bio 1AL guys and are starting night labs)

here is the schedule of classes link
UCB Online Schedule of Classes: Search Results

Please clarify something for me. You mentioned that Summer session registration begins February 2nd. Is that at 12am or sometime later in the day?

they don't specify on the summer site

I don't think telebears is open for schedule changes at 12:00AM. Probably whenever telebears opens.

would it be weird to take just chem3al during the fall 2009? how related is 3al to 3a? also, can you take bio1a without taking 3al?

If you are just taking 3A this semester, I would suggest you take

Bio 1A/L and Chem 3AL in fall. That makes 7 units, so:

Bio 1A/L
Chem 3AL
8/+ units of breadth and other stuff
