Gulf air opinions?

Does anyone have any experience with flying Gulf Air ?
Are they good/bad ?
Last time I was getting extremely cheap tickets on a Russian airline called Aeroflot and so many people advised me against it that I dropped the plan.
This time I'm getting cheap tix on Gulf, but my mum doesn't quite agree with it..
So - opinions anyone? Should I stay away from them? Or are they ok?

Aeroflot is the national Russian carrier. I flew on it and it was ok. Everything was fine, except that we had a delay at Moscow on the return trip. So in that time we toured the city a bit for very little money. The restaurants were nice too. The airport is very well maintained and much less congested than JFK. Definitely recommend Aeroflot.

Don't fly Aeroflot - you're like 1000 times more likely to die on it than any other airline. It's so bad that russian executives drive or take a train to somewhere else in russia (which takes ages) rather than risk a flight.

The airlines of the oil-rich Persian gulf countries, such as Gulf Air, Emirates, and Qatar Airways, are some of the safest and highest-rated airlines for Customer satisfaction in the world. As good as flying British Airway, Lufthansa, KLM, Air France, etc, but waay cheaper.

Avoid Royal Jordan though. Worst airline..On par with Air India or Tarom.

I heard that Singapore Airlines is amazing. Anyways I haven't experienced that many airlines but from my experience:

Very good (in order):
1. Asiana Airlines*
2. Korean Airlines*
3. United Airlines (out of Tokyo ONLY)
*They do need quite a bit of work on their english though.

Good/mediocre/bad:
1. United Airlines (all others)
2. American Airlines (Eagle)-short flights
3. US Airways (Express)-short flights
4. Delta Airlines (MARGINALLY-my mom's flight got delayed for two hours only to be cancelled)

WORST:
1. America West Airlines (flight arrived 5 hours late, late baggage, mediocre service, FILTHY aircraft, uncomfortable seats)

I'm flying Delta to New York in 4 days, and flying Singapore Air to Korea in a month or two...I'll keep you posted on them.

You're right NYU. Singapore is really amazing. Singapore airport makes JFK look like a hick airport, seriously. Our flight included a free city bus trip and a float down the river. Quite an amazing place overall I must say.

I have flown Gulf Air. It is a decent airline. Not as good as Emirates, but not nearly as bad as Aeroflot.

Gulf Air is supposed to be a good airline. Certainly better then most American airlines, so you have nothing to worry about!

I went to the Emirates Air website. I sooo wanna fly with them lol. It looks amazing.

I've had trouble with all the airlines I've flown with. Air Canada lost my passport. (I was an UM, so they had to keep it). And everything I've flown Northwest in the wintertime, they lost my luggage, but fortunately, it was delivered within the next few days.

I fly on Emirates all the time. It is a nice airline. I flew from Dubai to NYC (12-14 hours depending on wind) and it was a comfortable flight despite the distance.

Thanks a lot everyone!

And yeah Emirates is really good, my first int'l journey was with them. 14 kg extra baggage and they didn't say a word!
