ok so around my school we had one kid get into cornell but later i learned that two of the ones who got rejected also received agreements with cornell that if they had like a 3.5 or so after a semester or a year one or the other that they would be guranteed acceptance in the transfer does anyone know the truth and or how this works and how one get can this guranteed transfer status? also is it true that if you go to ithaca college you can take classes at cornell?

Yes, you may take one course at Cornell per semester with certain stipulations, and Cornellians may take one course at IC under the reciprocity agreement, and there is a maximum of 12 credits that may be so taken:

The terms behind guaranteed transfers are usually stipulated by the school, and major program, in question. Some schools may require a 3.0 with a minimum grade of C, others a 3.2 with a minumum grade of B. They'll usually tell you which classes must be completed in order to fulfill the guaranteed transfer. About a week after I received my guaranteed transfer letter, they sent some paperwork regarding which classes I needed to take and what the minimum allowable GPA was. These are (always?) with New York State residents going into the state-backed Cornell schools from four-year colleges. There are also guaranteed transfer agreements with community colleges in the SUNY system.

I got a GT and I'm not from NY!!! Why is that such a rumor! Maybe I just got lucky, but I am not from NY!.

But anyways, for ILR you have to get a 3.3, no grade below a B, 15 credits minimum, ect...

Your friends are telling the truth and you should congratulate them and not worry about it so much lol.

ps. You get a gt the same way you get an acceptance. You apply normally but then the college just doesn't have room for you yet or wants you to evolve for one more year but they really want you to still attend. In that case they send you a gt letter.

I apologize for that mistake...I was under the impression it was only for NYS residents. Learn something new every day. :)

na i'm not worried i was actually thinking about trying to get one if i didn't get trinity in the ed

It's just like trying to get in. Either you do or you don't, it's nothing you can apply to. GL!

thanks for the info

What state are you in? I wanna see if that New York thing is really true.

i'm in new jersey i know there are 2 kids from my school who got guranteed transfer this year

I'm from Canada and I got the gt.

Cool cuz I realized like everyone on facebook was from ny...I was like wait, *** lol. congrats canada, r u for ilr?

CAS :) (+ char)

Does Cornell tell you which schools you must go to in the first year? Or is it something you can decide on your own?

You decide...they suggest ur 2nd choice. People will either go to one that will save them money, one that's nearly as good, or one that they know they can get the grades in. Then they transfer...

do you know of anyone that was rescinded for not getting such good grades in spring semester after they had been accepted after the fall semester grades?

What are you talking about? If you are talking about college grades you aren't "accepted" as a gt until you have completed your freshman year. If you mess up then you are put into the general transfer pool (perhaps with a little leverage). If it's some stupid mess up with a good excuse, they could still put you through.

If you are talking about highschool spring semester then I have noooo clue at all and am glad that I don't have to lol.

im talking about being a gt and being accepted from your fall semester grades but getting not so good spring semester grades.

You still didn't say whether you are talking about college or highschool grades lol.

college grades
