GUSFS-cutthroat? SFS student input please

SFS is current first choice because of what it offers. Alternatives are the expected suspects - Princeton, Yale, Columbia, Middlebury, Swarthmore, etc. One area in which I am seeking input is whether SFS is cutthroat and competitive. Are SFS students grade-hungry and seeking to one-up one another? Are the students in it together or is it everyone for him/herself? Is there any sense of academics and learning for learning for learning's sake, or is it more of a trade school and/or platform for grad school admission?

Are SFS kids cut throat? Hmmm… I haven’t met any “cut throat” ones, but all lot of hardcore kids (and yes there is a difference)… most SFS kids tend to be extremely knowledgeable about policy and foreign affairs (as expected)…

I don’t know how the curve works in the SFS, but I haven’t heard of people competing for the grade say
