Really too bad. He was a decent enough guy and now his life is ruined.

He ruined his life the minute he started dealing, not when he got arrested. Considering that there must have been a considerable amount of time between those 2 dates, and the unceasing "don't do drugs!" paraphenalia and information from just about every source you could think of, he was asking for it.

But I'm sorry you lost a friend, for what it helps.

^^^wow, what a loser, not everyone who does drugs is "ruining there life"...thats just stupid to say

His life isn't necessarily ruined, it really depends what he was dealing, in what quantity, and to whom.

we weren't necessarily friends but we were acquantances, i'm pretty sure my roommate was one of his best customers. the guy was pretty dumb because he always smoked in his room and stunk up the whole hall and it was really a matter of time before he got ratted out. it seemed kind of serious because there were 3 cops that came to his room.

Too bad. "He ruined his life the minute he started dealing, not when he got arrested." - exactly.

His dumb a ss should've thought of the potential consequences before he started dealing.

Dude, you live in Canada. Your buddy next door has absolutely nothing to worry about.

^hahahahaha

hahaha well yeah you would be right if i were in canada but that's not the case. i'm in texas right now, so they fry your ass. in canada the cops are pretty easy going. one of my friends got stopped carrying beer to a party and the cop just made him pour it out, no ticket. in my opinion, the trafficking of marijauna is much more dangerous than the drug itself. my theory is that america is going to legalize marijuana so they can tax the hell out of it and fund the war in iraq. hey, it's just a theory.

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Beer kills more people than marijuana.

How many people need emergency services every weekend because of booze? 20? 30? How many people need emergency services every weekend because of pot? 0? -1?

The "gateway drug" argument is laughable because if it weren't illegal, kids wouldn't have to make contacts with drug dealers in order to obtain it.

His life isn't ruined, but he certainly does face now some major challenges that he could have avoided.

It all depends on the school, someone I know at John Hopkins got busted for dealing and didn't get kicked out rather got a severe warning and if he does one more thing wrong he is out.

Yeah, that does completely change matters. You were right then; your friend is in a world of hurt.

That's a reasonable idea, but why bother? The government can arbitrarily raise taxes as it is, without any reason.

Sucks for him. It's his fault for being obvious about it. Even a dealer doesn't have to be stink up the whole hall.

danfromcanada...why do u think his life is ruined???

my roommate dealed last year, and no one would have ever ever guessed it--preppy girl who plays golf and tennis, wears poped polos and pearls. We were also really good about having the window open, shade down, and we febreezed the heck out of our room and the hall way. If you don't bug people and you keep it to yourself, it hurts no one and is totally fine. If you're going to be stupid then you deserve to get cought.

They won't legalize marijuana here because the tobacco industry won't let them - do you have any idea how much the tobacco industry would tank if there was a marijuana industry to compete with? That, or the tobacco overlords would just monopolize the pot industry too. I would be fine with it if they did - but also, this country is still run by conservatives, despite the Democratic takeover. No offense to conservatives - I just mean, even the Democrats are too conservative for it to ever happen.
