He’s not a dumbass. Obviously he wants to be a farmer or rancher. If thats what he wants in life then so be it. You ever read Walden by Thoreau? You should take a look at it…

but walden is based on the inference that you could actually afford to live such a “natural” life without any obligations attached. in the modern world, he has bills to pay, future children to pay for, parents to pay for (maybe this is more of an asian thing, but regardless you should look out for your parents once you’ve gotten a decent job) etc etc.

maybe he’s going to own that piece of land and develop websites more?

This guy sounds very interesting, like someone I’d like to meet. I’m not sure his decision was the right one, but he sounds like an interesting and unique guy. Just wondering though, how does a high school student go about buying property in Kentucky? Presumably he’s under (or just newly) 18?

Guy did want he wanted to do. Glad he had the ■■■■■■■ that very, very few intelligent kids do. People do what they do primarily because they’re programmed to do it for college, this kid had the guts to follow his heart.

this thread forcibly reminds me of my slacker brilliant friend who is a huge fan of “catcher in the rye” and also titled her college essay, “a farmer’s wife”. Maybe your friend should contact my friend over facebook…
