I thought I'd ask for a bit of advice here before going out and doing some shopping. What do most guys wear on a regular basis at ND? What does the average male wardrobe contain?

Any info ?

it is basically everything you would have at home. most of the time it is casual wear but you do need to be business casual on certain occasions (so like a polo and kaki pants) and sometimes you need formal stuff (like a suit/sports jacket).

I would say i started with about 12-15 casual shirts (but that has increased by free stuff at Notre Dame and some purchases), 2 wind breakers (that number has increased due to my job), 2 polos (that has also increased due to my job), 1 heavy coat, ~10 pairs of shorts, ~3 kaki pants, and a sports coat (along with all the accessories).

But you do find a way to accumulate a lot more stuff at ND as well, but I usually operated on a 1 week laundry basis. I know people with about 30 shirts, 20 pairs of shorts, etc that operated on 2 or 3 week laundry cycles so it all varies.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of “formal” events come up throughout the year that require the suitcoat/khakis? Thanks.

Thanks for the information. Does casual shirt = t-shirt, or will guys ever wear polos or casual button-downs to classes, etc.?

As far as formal wear goes I had to wear a suit for things like research presentations, JPW, formal dances, and graduation events.

And yes, many students do wear T-Shirts but polo and casual button-down shirts are common as well.
