I've been accepted to both UT and UH, but I have no idea where to go. I live in Houston, and could potentially live at home while going to UH, plus they've offered me a scholarship (4500 per year). I've also been accepted to UT, and I am contemplating UT because of its status and because its UT! I will be the first in my family to go to college, and were not very well off so any sort of money would benefit my family greatly. Then again, I believe I can get a full ride off of state grants and what not. I'm just wondering what people's experiences have been with either school and what they would recommend. Any help would be appreciated.

I’m also majoring in Pre-Pharm. I’m also weighing the option of going to UH and going to graduate school at UT. Please any help is good.

You have to file FAFSA ASAP (in January) and wait for financial aid information from all the universities where you were accepted.
Apply to A&M too (before 12/1? Do they have merit scholarships?)
When you have all the numbers in front of you you’ll decide. You have all the time before 05/1 to do it.

im a current coog(UH), i like it. you save a lot of money if you go to UH. just talking about school itself, UT is wayyyyy better than UH im not gonna lie. but UT is more competitive than UH cuz the school size and everyone. the things you can get at UH you may not able to get it in UT. not sure about your major, but no matter what, its still easier to find a good job in Houston than Austin.(like i said less grads less competitive) i would say if you have enough financial support, then go to UT so you wont regret. i never attend UT so that all i can say.

Definitely wait for the financial aid awards. In terms of pre-pharmacy, it probably doesn’t matter which you go to unless there is a possibility of early acceptance in the program at the school. If you do end up going to UH, it will be natural to wonder “what if” but don’t let it keep from taking advantage of the opportunities at UH. It may not be rated as highly as UT, but it has a lot of things going for it and it is much more ethnically and economically diverse. It will be a different experience than UT, not necessarily a “lesser” one.

dont you have until may to decide? I still haven’t even gotten my decision from UT yet. Definitely wait for the money, you do not want to have any regrets.
