Guys...Im so confused, I need advice

Well I got into NEU and I was extremely excited then I realized they afford me no merit aid or financial aid except for some loans. So my father is capable of paying for it but it would be an extreme financial strain and im not sure if I can put him in this situation. He says dont worry about it but 60k a year is no joke.

Contrary I also got admitted to Rutgers university full ride, financial aid covers it all. Plus my family lives overseas now except for my brother whos in Jersey, Boston would be very far (3 hour drive) relative to Rutgers.

Now what im asking is NEU that much better than Rutgers. I plan to go to med school so will NEU rank and coop make all that much difference. I really cannot decide and even though my situation will allow me to go to NEU im not sure if its worth hitting a 3 hour drive on the weekends to see my brother and paying all that money. So tell me from your perspective on my situation is NEU worth it, if it is I would go and ill bend the ends to make it but it definitely will put me out of my comfort zone even though I know i would enjoy attending next fall.

Well this one is easy - no brainer. Go to Rutgers… no college is worth $250K in debt!

@suzyQ7 hahahaha I wont have to be that indebt, my father could afford it so I could be talking bout 60 to 80k in debt, but i would be a financial burden.

But can advise me if NEU is worth it or not, rutgers is a good school but its nothing special. Considering NEU’s 28% acceptance im guessing it is.

Also can I appeal my fa or theres no chance for that

@Liveitlight If you are planning on going to med school, your undergrad school does not matter much. I would pick Rutgers and save for grad school

No, its not worth $60K in debt. You couldn’t even get loans like that in your name anyway. You’d be so broke, you’d probably transfer out after the first year anyway, once you realized how much debt you were going into. NEU is a GREAT school, but not worth that much debt. No school is.

Ditto and if you’re planning on medical school, which is expensive, spend as little as possible for undergrad. The most important factor in your plans is high GPA – it doesn’t matter from where. If they’re giving you full aid for Rutgers (in grants, not loans), I would advise you to go for it and be closer to your brother.

How desperate are you to get out of New Jersey?

@TomSrOfBoston Considering I’ve lived there till I was only 10, Ive never seen that much of it. But im just not sure I can cope with long distance between boston and jersey.

LOL, I was joking. There is a huge colony of New Jersey expats at Boston are a colleges. You need to talk to your parents. If they can easily afford NU and medical school without loans, go to NU, if not, Rutgers.

Rutgers. No contest in this situation. Ask dad to put savings away for med school as he can. We’re all getting older and there are no guarantees later in life.
