Guys on a serious note

Okay I know I'm usually joking about basically everything on that site, and I'm sure you guys are expecting one to come up in this pretty soon, but it won't. Sometimes things happen and your just not the same afterwards. This is one of those things... A junior over the weekend died. He was car surfing at like 60 mph and the driver slowed down around a curve and he flew off and hit a guard rail. I didn't know him, but a lot of my friends did, and basically the whole mood of the school has been down. His funeral was today, and a lot of students went. One of my friends from church knew him pretty well and went and he came from the funeral and went straight to church... My friends a big joker and usually a pretty happy guy, but tonight he was just so torn up about (even though he was holding it in)... I had been sad about the events before, but this sort of sunk it in for me... It makes us realize fragile life is. I can't even begin to imagine how his family feels right now, or the driver of the car... Needless to say, I'm going to change how I live my life now... Guys... please be safe in everything you do. You've all got such bright futures, let's live to see them.

I'll sing it one last time for you
Then we really have to go
You've been the only thing that's right
In all i've done.

And I can barely look at you
But every single time I do
I know we'll make it anywhere
Anywhere from here

Light up, Light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear

Louder, louder
And we'll run for our lives
I can hardly speak I understand
Why you can't raise your voice to say

To think I might not see those eyes
It makes it so hard not to cry
And as we say our long goodbyes
I nearly do.

Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear

Louder, louder
And we'll run for our lives
I can hardly speak I understand
Why you can't raise your voice to say

Slower, slower
We don't have time for that
All I want is to find an easier way
To get out of our little heads

Have heart my dear
We're bound to be afraid
Even if it's just for a few days
Making up for all this mess.

Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear

i know its really sad but why was he car surfing?

anyways i hope his family and friends will be okay.

In one month 4 people died in my school, 2 at our neighbor school. One was car surfing...think before you act.

a stupid decision on his part, and I had a hard time taking the death seriously at first, but I've talked to so many people who loved this guy and it's just pretty painful.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Last year a girl who I was friends with before but hadn't really talked to in a while was killed in a car accident. She was the passenger in the car with this guy, and they were maybe 5 minutes away from her house when he hit a utility pole because he was speeding. He lived while she died.

Life really is fragile, and it's sad how things like this have to be the reminders.

did u write that poem/song or did someone else?

I'm so sorry for his family and friends. It will last a long time, his memory. I hope other people learn from that.

awwwwwwwwww gunner....thats really sad i'm sorry for his family and friends and everyone that knew him...and i totally understand how you feel...in fact something like that happened in my own school about a month ago...a girl in my grade was at badminton practice early one morning, and she suddenly collapsed...teachers did CPR on her but it didn't help...the ambulance took her to the hospital and she died there an hour later :( :( :( and it was really sad...because there are only 124 people in my grade, so we are all pretty close to each other....the worst part was that she was a boarder from taiwan...her parents don't even live here...and we still don't know what caused her to collapse like that...she was perfectly healthy :(

life IS really fragile...there's no way of knowing when it might slip away :(

well i dunno what else to say...:(....just like what gunner said...life's really precious...live every day to the fullest guys ..................

We used to car surf back in high school. Isn't it strange though how people only appreciate life after someone dies?

weedboy, it's a song by snow patrol "run"

However, I've had nothing but poetry flying through my mind recently...

i love that snow patrol song..

and i'm sorry about your situation. thank you for sending out such an important message.

Hey, I know how you feel. Just this schoolyear alone, we've lost five--all to car accidents, four accidents, in fact..

I've lost a lot of people in just the last three years, more than my fingers and toes can account for. The worst blow was my cousin, who's barely a year older and whose death was the most painful for me.

I'm still getting through it, but you know... the grief is conquerable, but for the longest time, I thought it wasn't. I mean, it's easy to say, "Hey, you'll get through it" but when you're the one trying to get through, it feels like swimming through concrete. It's a huge obstacle--and probably the hugest you'll have to go through.

But take it slowly.

The worst part is dealing with others who are going through the same thing. When we heard about the last student (only a week or two ago), my friend immediately crumpled. It's agonizing, but what can you do? You can talk about it, mull over it, philosophize about life. Like that one passage in the SAT II Literature test last month, grief is a stone that wears away with time.

Death is frustrating, because truthfully, no one REALLY understands it. I mean, our physical bodies cease to work--and then we, as the people we are beyond our bodies, cease to exist.

But it's inevitable. Make the best of it. The goal is to remember a loved one, or even a stranger (as ironic as it is), in laughter and closure, not tears and vengefulness.
