Im wondering if i should send this score or take sat and send that score,,
will 28 on act cut for oos applying to school of engineering??

Match. Even though your ACT is below the average, your GPA is outstanding and your SAT II’s should make up for the low ACT score. The acceptance rate for engineering isn’t too high either, but it is self selective. Admissions officers mostly look at math and science scores when looking at standardized tests for engineering students. This demonstrates that students might/can have the ability to think critically.

I would say apply and send them an updated ACT score, if you are thinking about retaking. You can also try to take the SAT. Maybe you can get a better score on it. I wouldn’t worry too much though. In the unfortunate event that you are deferred make sure that you do very well your senior year, especially first semester.

Your reading score seems a tad bit low though. I would suggest retaking either test. It is easier to bring up a low score than to bring up a high one. So focus on your reading comprehension, and stuff. I still think you are a match though, but you might be on the border of slight reach.

reach. OOS along with the low score = killer, especially consider the fact that you are applying to COE with a 29 in science and 28 composite

should i submit my act score? or don’t submit it at all and take sat??

I would say submit it. they won’t mind if you send them both your sat and your ACT. However, I would advise trying to retake your act and scoring 32+ since your application is perfect except for that score. You might be missing out on merit scholarships with those points.

I’m planning to retake act and Im taking October sat. I’m just little worried that if I submit my application with 28 I’ll be denied cuz average act for Coe is31 but thank you so much for your comments

Yeah, your ACT is kinda low for Engineering…if you could score a 30+ on the October ACT, that would raise your chances significantly, especially since your other stats are good.

Your demonstrated interest and math and science class rigor are also especially important for Engineering, so if those are good, you still have a decent shot imo.

should i submit 28 first then retake act and sat?
im worried that they will look at 28 and stop looking at my application…

Yeah submit the app with the 28. If a 28 is too low, they will wait for the new score (as long as you tell them you’re taking it again). They won’t deffer or reject you, they’ll wait for the new score.

[Michigan Engineering | Student Profile](http://www.engin.umich.edu/about/studentprofile.html)

GPA is above CoE median: good.
ACT is below CoE median: bad.
OOS : negative especially if looking for finaid.

I agree with bearcats; reach. Take the SAT and see if that helps but realize Michigan is rolling admissions and your chances drop the longer you wait to apply.

I definitely agree with yosup 100% on this one. If you can retest with a better strategy for the reading and science sections on the ACT, your chances skyrocket. For the time being, definitely submit the 28 and hope for the best. I doubt they would reject you for ER. Rather, the worst they would probably do is defer you to RD when you could submit your new ACT.

Your SAT IIs = what really helps your app.

Best of luck!
