<p>I'm Korean and I live in New York. I'm applying to UCLA, Umich, Berkeley, UPenn, Boston University and Northeastern. I also have legacy in Umich since my brother went there. Can you guys tell me what you think of my chances at each school? Thanks guys.</p>

<p>Good chance at all but Upenn. Low but some chance at Penn. No chance as out of state Asian at UCB and UCLA.</p>

<p>Ignore what brady said about being Asian... The UCs officially don't take race into account in the admissions process. I myself am an Asian and got into UCLA pretty easily out of state.</p>

UPenn: Reach

<p>I disagree with Flopsy about the UC schools. At 3.6, your GPA is just above the minimum required for out of state applicants. What are your other SAT II scores like? That may make a big difference as the UC's tend to weight the SAT II scores very heavily, especially writing.</p>

<p>hmm... I haven't taken any other sat 2s yet but I am expecting 700+ on writing and us history. You guys think UPenn is easier for me to get into or harder than berkeley and ucla? thanks guys</p>
<p>Flopsy, what exactly were the stats that got you into UCLA that makes you the most overly optimistic poster on this entire board? Getting in from out of state is like trying to get into Harvard, especially if you're Asian because Berkeley and LA are like half Asian and they want diversity. My dad's neighbor is a prof at LA and he told my brother's friend give up with like a 1460 and good grades from NY.</p>

<p>Fearfulliving - are you signed up for the December SAT II's? That's the last date the UC's will accept for this year's admissions. And yes, I personally think UPenn will be easier or at least comparable to getting into UCB and UCLA as an out of state resident.</p>
<p>It should be easier, you have good stats. Penn will weigh more heavily on your EC, essay, and recs. You should apply to maybe a couple more matches, like Northwestern Emory etc.</p>
<p>I meant harder. Penn should be harder for those reasons.</p>
