My DD was also waitlisted today from GWU and also was rejected from GU today as well (was deferred EA)—location was great. She loved GU for so long, but the novelty wore off—that and the recent article about the declining dorms. (GWU was actually a safety.) Fortunately, the first two schools she heard from admitted her-Ohio State & Villanova. We are getting Vanderbilt’s decision tomorrow! The two “V”s have really grown on her-either one will be a great place for her. We are also waiting on NYU and 4 ivies, but are probably longshots. I did not enjoy this process so much—my twins graduate in 3 years and we’re going be pros by then! Good luck to everyone.

@Jillianrlong My son got accepted to GWU with a $25,000 scholarship. He got accepted to Ohio State (home state) and South Carolina, both with scholarships that make the cost to either school very reasonable. He also got accepted to UVA and UNC, with no scholarship or aid given.
I think he is going to choose Ohio State honors over GWU. Both are good schools, but OSU is half the cost of GWU. He’s thinking save the money and put it towards grad school.
Anyone else confused by their decision? I’m decently above average in stats and showed interest (visited and wrote 3 extra essays for the honors program) and got waitlisted…
Accepted, with honors and $47k in aid!

@jk62722 VERY surprised that you were not at least wait listed. Your credentials are strong. As you can see on this thread, there is a lot of variation between who was accepted and denied. Some with much lower stats were accepted and some with higher stats than yours were also denied or wait listed. You will end up at the school that is right for you and will be fine.
@MoSwimmer66 Excellent points about the cost to attend and live in the area. It can be easy to get swept up in the euphoria of a $25k a year scholarship and not realize that you are likely to still graduate with a heavy debt load and pay a lot for housing your last two years. My oldest D was accepted 4 years ago and given $12k a year to study Eng. We are in state MD so she went to UMD instead. We have saved a ton of $ and she is getting an excellent education at a top ranked Eng school.
GW is a very good school, but I would run a cost / benefit analysis - especially if accepted into your state’s flagship state school.
@Daisy0114 All excellent schools. I’m sure he will fine no matter where he goes.

I’m super excited!!
I got accepted to Columbian School for political science!! I applied ED1 but my application was defered to RD, but GW is my top choice so I’m super happy
Major: political science

Country: China (but I’m Canadian) so obviously no financial aid
Ethnicity: Asian
Gender: F
School: I go to one of the best international schools in Shanghai
Classes: 6 AP courses and 8 AP tests, 2 IB HLs, 3 regular school courses
Extracurriculars: Varsity MUN, JV volleyball (captain), student newspaper (president), mock trial club (vice president), community service club (public relations officer), link crew leader, intern for the new york city council, founder and CEO of a small business in 2017 to tutor local chinese children, prom committee
Recs: I obviously don’t know but it was my IB film teacher and my AP Lang teacher, both I was really close with and got As for in their class
Essay: wrote about how growing up in an authoritarian state and culture told me to be obidient and quiet but public speaking/political activites and other stuff eventually allowed me to become active and the person I am today
