GW and AU

I know it is an extremely old question. But I still have some concerns about my own situation. So, I hope someone could answer my questions. Thank you :)

I am an international student from China and very interested in Pol sci and IR, but I am afriad that i would change my mind after spending some time in US colleges since I would take a broad range of academic courses.

AU gives me 20k and GWU gives me 15k.

AU is strong at IR and Pol sci and GWU unquestionably has one of the best pol sci programs in the nation.

But what if I change my mind and want to major in other fields other than Pol sci or IR? Which one has a better overall academic offerings in business, liberal arts, engineerings...

According to my mediocre knowledge about the two schools, GWU is also good at business and engineering, isn't it? how about AU? If I choose AU, would my choice be narrowed down to only IR-related programs? I know AU has business schools and media school, but I do not know much about its reputation or overall rankings.

And I am also concerned about the overall academic intensity in two schools and the opportunities each school could offer.
btw, GWU is bigger than AU according to books. GWU has three campuses, and are three in total is one and half size of AU or just Foggy Bottom could be bigger than AU campus?

Thank u for your attention!

sanduo - at the information session we attended at AU, we were told it was not difficult to switch majors, and that they were comfortable with students being undecided. I don’t know how easy/difficult it is to jump from school to school, though. Don’t know about the policy at GW.
My son is deciding between GW and AU as well. It’s a very very tough decision!

lspf72: Yeah, definitely. Thank you.
There is little time left for us to decide. It seems to me that GW is more pre-professional than AU.

GW has a fantastic business school and a respectable engeineering school. Really the only thing AU is good at is pol sci and IR (and GW has them beat there too). Most of GW’s programs are pretty strong. I think you can transfer programs fairly easily early on if you decide IR or Pol Sci aren’t for you. Just keep in mind that it is much more difficult to transfer from majoring in say art or english to the Elliott School.

GW may have three campuses but chances are you only use the Foggy Bottom campus and, maybe, the Mount Vernon if you are placed there as a Freshman.
