GW Class of 2019 Regular Decision

Thought we needed to get a discussion started! Good luck to all!

Thank you! Anyone have any idea when decisions are released?

The website just says late March/early April. Really nervous, though. Not sure I can wait that long.

Hello!! What’re your guys’ majors?

Mine will hopefully be Middle East Studies at the Elliot school, with a possible additional BA in Computer Science. What about you?

I’m looking to double major in stats and econ!

Applied as Undecided to CCAS, but gonna apply to the Public Health program in my sopomore year! is GW your guys’ #1?

Yep GW is my #1. Couldn’t do Early Decision because I wouldn’t have been able to be considered for scholarships at the other schools I applied to.

Is it generally hard to get in as undecided? That’s what a friend of mine told me.

@fazeeeeeeel‌ http://www.collegeconfidential.com/dean/will-undecided-major-on-applications-hurt-admission-odds/

I applied to the school of media and public affairs for journalism. March/April are sooo far away

March feels so far away! Luckily, I’ll be keeping busy playing in the pit orchestra for my HS’s musical production for the month, but I’ll be so stressed being at school unable to see my admissions decisions until 11 or 12 at night when they come! Does GW send decisions via mail or email?

Early decision applicants got an email followed with a paper notification mailed to them, so I assume it will do the same for regular decision.

God, I really can’t wait for the decision! 2 more months!

Ok guys so I’m wondering what my chances are of receiving a merit-based scholarship from GWU and if those chances are decent, does anyone have an amount estimate?

Here goes:
White female
Have gone to a selective private Catholic school for all of high school
34 on ACT
Straight As all through high school
4.56 GPA weighted
4.0 GPA unweighted
APs: world history (4), French (4), chemistry (5), U.S. history (5), U.S. government, BC calculus, english lit, Econ (haven’t taken exams for last 4 yet)

ECs: competitive dance team all year except late spring and summer for past 4 years (important leadership position senior year)
Chemistry tutor past 2 yrs
Leader of the writing help center at my school
Clubs: French club, book club (leader), young entrepreneurs, young democrats, earth action team (not all for all four years)
Summer camp counselor past 2 yrs

Rec letters: 2, I’d say pretty good

Essays were also above average, one of them being the best one I wrote throughout the college application process

In general, I have also taken a rigorous course load besides APs, including a bunch of honors classes.

Let me know what you think my chances are of getting a scholarship or let me know if you need more info. Sorry for the long post!

And also I’m hoping to major in history and minor in archaeology

@eabs97‌ I can’t say how much you’d get but I can say those stats are excellent and you should definitely get something. I don’t know what her stats were, but @LovelyAshley‌ got a pretty good package (IMO). Maybe she’ll chime in and share her stats.

@NHuffer‌ thanks! I looked at her package and the problem is that I’m in that awkward middle ground where I probably won’t get much if any financial aid outside or merit scholarships, but w/o the merit scholarships, I still probably won’t be able to afford GW. Guess I’ll have to hope for the best!

@eabs97‌ just hang in there and wait until you get your package. There’s no point worrying about something until you know

anyone know what dates in the past GW has sent out decisions? Late March/early April is just so vague…
