This may be a picture skewed by the self-selected CC community, but all of these scholarships make me question what the real sticker price is at colleges/universities.
25k with 4.3 W and 1960 SAT…mostly honors and a couple AP’s, tons of leadership and extracurriculars, showed a lot of interest, interviewed, visited, emailed admissions rep, very personal essay and awesome, original Why GW essay. Shocked that I recieved this much merit!
Son was accepted into Elliott with a 20k scholarship. I asked him if he had the other 40k Solid student…3.8 GPA, 1980 SAT, 31 ACT, good selection of AP classes. He is very excited, just hope we can make it work financially for him.
Accepted into Arts and Sciences with 15,000k! 3.8 gpa and a 28 ACT. Not sure if we can pay for it though.
I was accepted with a scholarship of $15000k/ year. However much this may help, it will not be enough. Does anyone know how willing GW would be in matching how much aid I got from another school of a similar ranking? GW is my #1 and I really hope to attend next fall!
lola - worth a try, right? Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Agreed…worst they can say is no right? Start with your regional!
I was accepted into arts and science with 15k but I applied to Elliot as my first choice. Is it hard to transfer into another school after a year?
Elliot and Honors with 25k Presidential. 2190 SAT and 3.9 GPA. 0% chance of being able to afford it though. Lame.
their grant is light. And even the presidential academic scholarship is labelled as merit, it looks like need-based. For my case, the net costs ends up almost exactly like the FAFSA EFC. If you get 35K scholarship, you have to pay 31K including boarding. If you get 15K, that net price goes up to 51K.
Anyone have any insights on housing? Which dorms are the best?
What percent of people receive merit aid? I got $25k a year and I didn’t even apply for need-based aid
collegedata.com shows GW provides merit scholarships to 43% of ~all~ admitted students. Here is an USNWR ranking of colleges who are generous with merit scholarships to students who do not qualify for financial aid.

Does anyone know if GW is less likely to give merit aid to ED students. I do not qualify for need based aid, but I was above the middle 50% in test scores and had an above average GPA yet received no merit aid whatsoever.
Does anyone have any info on how the dorms are like?
Accepted to Columbian CAS with $20,000 renewable scholarship Congratulations everyone!
Congrats!
Does anyone know how hard is SQNS program. My son got invited for that.any information will be appreciated.
