GW Merit scholarships / scholarship deadlines?

I won't be able to afford GW if I don't get all the money I can. A lot of schools say that, for example, Dec 1st is the deadline for scholarship consideration. Does GW have something like that I should watch out for?

The financial aid application deadline was Nov. 10th, and there is no application for most merit aid scholarships.

Shoot. They were not very clear on that :/

I know. I only found out when they sent me a reminding email the day before the deadline. Give them a call, they’ll work with you.

Fill out the CSS asap, send in your parents tax returns (signed copies) and W2 forms. Also, send the ED 1 financial aid form. It should only take you a few hours to complete. Best of luck. I know they’re okay with you being a few days late. I spoke to a women at the financial aid department and she said being a week late is no big deal. Nov. 10 is the priority date, so you might not get as substantial a reward.

I’m confused, here it says that it’s part of ED, and I don’t want to do binding ED:

@heyhey2034 are those forms you mention in addition or separate from the actual application? If I can send in a few financial aid forms now and then submit my actual app later and still be eligible for everything, that would be great.

I assumed you applied ED… your deadline is not for some time.

@heyhey2034 That’s assuring! So no merit scholarships for RD applicants?

@BassGuitar there are merit scholarships but the vast majority you’re automatically considered for. There’s a Scottish Rite one you need to apply for (if you’re 100% scottish or Irish) but other then that you’re good. The big chunk will be financial aid. Make sure when you apply you send in the needed financial aid materials. Check the deadline online for RD. GW matches 87% of need. Meaning if your EFC is 0, then they will likely give you 54,000 a year.

Check out the net calculator too:

As mentioned above, regular decision students are considered for merit scholarships. They also generally take a bulk of the merit-aid being given out by the university.

In terms of the financial aid being given out (need-based), I would say the estimate is closer to 90% now. That is how much of my bill is being covered, excluding loans.

@GWU2018‌ do ED people ever get merit based scholarships?

@skeliz Yes, they do.
