GW..School of Business..

Thinking about the biz school at GW and in particular a dual concentration
of Finance and International Business. Does anyone know much about GW ?

i would rather go to georgetown..

Frankly, so would I. My son has good stats, 4.6(w), 1430/2140, 15 of 575, good ECs,....but somehow, I don't think G-town will extend an invite. Unfortunately.

hey, I had only a 1470 and I got into Gtown business school... I had excellent EC, and solid leadership roles... I did go to a Jesuit High School, so that might have helped...

it's not hard to get in from a jesuit high school. all you need is like a 1350 and be in the top 5% of your class. it's also easy, although not as easy, if you come from any prep school.

According to businessweek, their median SAT for the most recent entering class is 1370. I wouldn't say "only a 1470".

still wouldn't hurt your son to apply though, right? :]
and i'm guessing as the parent, you are paying for college applications, hehe.

Yea your sons stats are above avg for G-town.

I wouldn't say its "easy" coming from a Jesuit school, top 5% wasn't too easy for me... don't know about you mate

i did not mean to imply that being in the top 5% of your class and getting >1350s on your SATs is easy. Those are truly laudable accomplishments that you should be proud of. I meant to say that getting into georgetown from a jesuit high school with >1350 SATs and 5%, is pretty much a given. Most of such students get into georgetown (same deal with prep schools). There's not so much of a guarantee for students with even higher stats that don't come from jesuit/prep schools. Just look at the random rejections in the Georgetown thread.

my mistake, I do agree with you then, top 5 from my school nearly always get in to Gtown...

My son is about 15 of 575, 4.5(w) GPA and did 1430/2140 on his SAT. He took the SAT I over again to try to bump it up. He will only be taking 2 of the SAT IIs in June. Any chance for his acceptance to G-Town for business ? If so, maybe he can pick up another SAT II in October. Thanks.

MBJ-GW is strong in international business; that is the b-school's strongest major. The school has beautiful new facilities and some great internship possibilities.
