Rejected at Duke.

c'mon, but he's an African-American.

You should be in at Harvard, Yale, Princeton, heck even Stanford.

I sincerely hope you're joking, for your sake.

also i am first generation going to college and not applying for money. any ideas? chance at unc or uva? i know duke is tough transfer

Duke is something like 4%...very unlikely.

UVA still pays attention to residency and since you're OOS with a 3.5 GPA (roughly), I don't think you'll get in.

You've got a good shot at UNC, but you'll have to study for one semester before getting into the business school.

does anyone know anymore about unc??
chances?

UNC accepted 45% of transfer applicants in 2005.

You should also look at the College of William and Mary, which accepts 52% of transfer apps and might be a good alternative to UVA, if you want to attend a good school in Virginia.

does UVA not consider residency for junior transfers, or do they always consider it?

Also i agree that Duke is an extremely long shot

UVA still considers residency, making OOS admissions difficult.

what about unc?? it is my top choice. do I have decent chances?

UNC doesn't consider residency, from what I've been told.

Yes, you have decent chances at UNC. Try to pull your GPA up above a 3.5.

wont they only see my first semester grades??

yes, but your GPA will follow you everywhere and you can help your application by submitting a favorable midterm report.
