GW VS. BU, your opinion please!

I know the obvious differences, the cities they are in, both great cities, I always think of BU being known for their communications program and GW for their Elliott school of International studies.........but let's say for business major, which do you think has more clout? Which do you think would be a better choice keeping in mind that someone wants to study business possibly on an international level?

Let me know your thoughts! Thanks.

GW No question.......IMO

I'd say GW over BU too.

Thanks for your vote, but why do you say GW over BU, I also want to throw Michigan into the equation since she just found out today.:)

MODERATOR'S NOTE:

Threads about choosing a college after being admitted belong in the College Search & Selection forum, not in the College Admissions Forum, naturally.

I agree with you, a tough choice. Two nice schools in two great cities.

I would pick BU. I really don't like the typical GWU student. BU is more of a mix.

GW is very strong in international business specifically.

theoc..what is in your opinion a typcial GWU student? Just curious as to what your take on that would be...thanks.

I would pick GW. It depends on what you're going for, but I considered both schools and some defining factors between the two; both are city campuses, but GW's is more defined. Plus, D.C. would be great for business-related internships as well. Plus, international business/international studies classes would overlap. As for U Mich...well, no doubt their business school is excellent, but fyi they don't have an international business major (only international business concentrations). Plus, the weather isn't as nice in U mich or boston as it is in D.C., if that is a factor

Flashy/Materialistic/Spoiled

BU > GWU

Why? I was accepted by BU and rejected by GWU.

i would definitely say BU

not a fan of GW

ha! bethyy~ are you the one with the professor dad? (hope i'm remembering correctly!) if you are....i'm in total agreement!!!

yupp thats my dad.

he is actually not teaching at gw anymore, which I think is good for his mental health (and mine!) and is teaching somewhere where he is much happier

way to go, my memory! :) seriously, you posted that a long time ago, and i was SO taken by it, i guess i remembered. you had the courage to say what others didn't. anyway, hats off to you. hope you're well. where are you in this insane process?

hahah that is an impressive memory!

I am currently deciding between wake forest and an instate public LAC. I probably won't decide until the last possible day though.

I have a really good memory too, but my interpretation of "courage" is definitely different. Now let's try to return to the OP's question.

I checked some more sources and found that BU also has a strong international business program. So either BU or GW is a good choice. Visit both and envision yourself attending each school and pick the one that feels right for you.

I'm pretty familar with both. The are generally pretty comparable although each has their stengths and weaknesses. For a business major, I'd say its a toss-up, unless you want international business and then I'd give GW the edge. It would be an easier choice if you were interested in political science or international studies (GW) or the hard sciences (BU).

GW is smaller, and has somewhat more of a campus feel (at least the Metro is underground, as oppossed to the Green Line which goes right through the center of BU).
