GWU/American and Merit Aid

For those of you who applied to both GWU and American..which university gave you the most aid?

Stats would be helpful too..I'm just interested to know the comparison. Is one a lot more generous than the other?

Hm, I need to win the lottery. Wouldn't it be nice to just write a $50,000 check every year without a worry?

i applied to both schools. personally, i don't know since i didn't receive aid from either of them, but i would say that GWU SHOULD be more generous, given the fact that it has many more financial resources; GWU's endowment is almost triple the size of American's puny 300-400 million dollar endowment.

ok...i'm set up for this one...and gw is a whole lot more expensive, with or without aid. :)

In my case, the financial aid packages were comparable for both schools. One thing to keep in mind is that the tuition rate at GW is fixed for all four years of attendance and many of the scholarships GW gives are also guaranteed aid. Those two factors weighed somewhat heavily in my financial decision of GW versus AU.

I applied to Johns Hopkins, GWU, and WashU. Got accepted by all of them, but Hopkins and WashU gave me almost nothing, whereas GWU gave me enough to pay about only 5K per year including everything.
