<p>Hi, I'm currently an upcoming sophomore at George Washington University. I'm looking to transfer either in spring '10 or in the fall of '10. After my first year, I have a 3.55 gpa in the liberal arts program, planning to double major in political science and philosophy. I would really like to transfer to a higher caliber university (specifically Northwestern, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, maybe even an ivy? etc.). From a gpa standpoint, how competitive would I potentially stand as an applicant coming from GWU? If such universities are reachable, would applying at different times (for either the spring or fall of '10) give me any sort of advantage? </p>
