im wondering if there is a rivalry between these 3 universities in dc? Do students generally get along and party together or are they in their own spheres? Just wondering what the college social atmosphere is like in DC…

my d's experience is that they all socialize together. and yes, there are rivalries, but not when it comes to a DC good time!

There's no rivalry exactly, but it's not like we all hang out in one big happy family. A lot of people seem under the impression that both schools are just around the corner. First, the Georgetown kids really keep to themselves, and its definately kind of creepy taking the bus there at night. GW has fun parties, but you need to take a series of metro stops to get there and its not a great area to be walking around at night in. Be prepared to party it up at AU and in the burbs of maryland.

I agree. Its not like one will say at 11pm 'hey lets go to this party at GW' It is a pain to get to Georgetown and GW, so it usually takes planning ahead if one wanted to get to a party there. The metro stops at 3 on weekends which may be too early for some kids, so they would have to pay an expensive cab or spend the night.
