GWU Honors vs. Tufts

I am having so much trouble deciding between Tufts and the UHP at GWU. I'm interested in economics and was wondering if anyone had any input on my decision. I can't decide whether the fact that Tufts is technically a higher ranked school should overcome the wealth of opportunities that DC provides. Any thoughts?

academically tufts. college life, people, fun, enjoying the college experience, gw.

GWU Honors is about on par with Tufts academically.

Go to the one with the most scholarship.

I agree with above - seems both programs are relatively similar. If the finances are also similar, this comes down to where YOU want to be for the next 4 years! If you have any ideas post-undergrad about government type careers - then D.C. The IMF is right next door to GW and you can probably intern there let alone others such as all the political/economic think-tanks/NGO’s.

I’m clearly personally biased towards GW- My “S” will be an incoming freshman in the Elliott School and was also accepted to BC/Tufts. GW’s FA/Scholarships were better. Given his interests in foreign affairs - clearly GW has the advantages for internships.

Best of luck!

CJ

I made that choice. GW.

Would I be right to guess that GW gave you a Presidential Scholarship, and Tufts gave you nothing?

When I was looking at colleges, I didn’t particularly like the feel of Tufts. I’m currently in the GW Honors Program and absolutely love it. Honestly, I think you should go with what your gut is telling you. If you absolutely love Tufts, go there. If you love GW and/or the Honors Program, then go there. This may not have been the most helpful post, but that will always be my advice. If you have any questions specifically related to the Honors Program, let me know…I’ll be more than happy to answer! =)

I have one at Tufts (IR) and one currently accepted to GW/Elliot, which is why I am scanning these posts. Cannot speak for the econ programs at either, but will say that Tufts son could not be happier with his college experience - academics, social life, friends, etc. I would say the only disadvantage might be location (GW much better for internships). In S’s case, he decided that D.C. could wait until after college. I agree with the above poster(s) – if you can afford both schools, go where you think you will be happiest. Everybody is different.
