Hello! I'm a female senior in California and I am flying out in mid-October to DC to have my interview.

a) Living in So-Cal I'm not used to cold. Could someone tell me what the weather in the fall is like? Will I need heavy jackets or will a sweater do?

b) I'm attending a campus tour and information session, but is there anything special I should do to really get a feel of the school?

c) If anyone has been through the interview processes, could you give me some hints? Is it a more formal or more relaxed interview? Do they tend to be long or short?

a. It will definitely be chillier than California is in October. The temperature is usually low 50s and can be chilly at night. I would recommend a jacket and a sweater…just in case.

b. I would make sure if you know what you are looking to major in, that you go to those specific information sessions for your department. This will allow you to potentially meet professors and students in the department. I have a lot of friends who give tours, and I can honestly say they are really great tours that provide you with a lot of information.

c. I completed the interview process during my senior year of high school. I met with an admissions director who came to my state where I grew up. Others will meet with Alumni who are actively connected with the school. The person I met with had also gone to GW, so he talked about that and then asked me some typical interview questions. They really want to know why you’re passionate to go to GW. My interview I believe lasted about 30 minutes.

I truly believe that my interview got me into GW. You really want to set yourself apart from everyone else. You want the interviewer to remember you at the end of the long process.
