GWU Ranking for IR

What is GWU's ranking for International Relations major?

my question too i figure top 5-10 maybe? I know JHU, Tufts, and GT are all above, and im sure HYPs also have great programs

Undergraduate programs aren't really ranked, but our graduate programs are very prestigious and well-respected.

There is no ranking for the IR program. However, there is a ranking for schools of International Relations. Of the twenty or so that exist in the United States, GW's was in the top 5.

this has been covered in previous posts about three times. there is no ranking for undergrad majors of any kind that i know of except for the gourman report- i'm sure IR would be in here if someone could get their hands on a copy. GW's masters ranking i believe was NOT in the top 5. i believe it was ranked eighth, and that's internationally not just in the united states (remember there are not too many IR grad schools; there are only nine in the united states, so that fact that GW made it to the eighth is really not that impressive to me)----if you got into G-town, Hopkins, any of the Ivies, Tufts, and perhaps American (it is arguable that their undergrad program is better if not entirely comprable to GW's) go there to study International Relations

I think the fact that GW and the other institutions have an entire school dedicated to the study of IR is impressive. Students who pursue degrees in these universities with specialized IR schools have more access to more resources and other opportunities than those who attend schools who do not have an IR school.

armcp- In other posts you stated that GW was your "dream" school. Then, due to finances, you decided not to attend. Now it seems you have turned bitter against GW since you didn't receive the scholarships you hoped for. Let go of your anger and be happy with your chosen school and stop haunting the GW boards trying to turn others against GW.

Hey, I'm sorry you weren't able to attend GW. That sucks. There's always graduate school. However, I don't think GW is a bad school academically just because you could not personally attend. It is the right school, and a good school, for a lot of people.

I am proud of our school and our academics, but either the rankings are flawed or not flawed; either we believe them or we don't. we don't get to believe them only when they are nice to us. Personally, I don't give a S*** about the rankings... I think we're a strong school REGARDLESS of our rankings (whether it's good or not). Maybe we're ranked highly in this and that; we're also not even a first tier school according to US News. To me, it's all BS.

I think most people across the country agree that GW is a very good school for international affairs and political science, and is sort of good for business. Whether we're ranked 5 or 50 next year, I don't think that reputation will change overnight.

yep. i flipped through a copy of the gourman report.. but my school only has the 1995 edition.. i think thats the last edition. the reason why i wanted to know the ranking is that i needed something to help me choose which college i want to attend this fall. i couldnt decide :P

but anyways.

serendipityring, you sound like you LOVE gw! haha~ i guess i will see you there this fall :)
