If anyone here is a student at GWU I Georgetown, or any school really, could you please voice you opinions on whether or not you view GWU as a second rate school to Georgetown. Like it's the place all the people who are rejected from Georgetown go?

Hello? Please answer!

thats not true. obviously there are going to be some people at gw who got rejected from georgetown, theres people at every school who got rejected from somewhere else. the overlap is probably greater because these schools are near in location and both attract students who are interested in government/intl relations/etc. but the schools are also different and both are equally good. georgetown is ranked higher, yes, but gw is better for internships and has a more urban campus so the environment is different. it depends on what you want. both are equally good and dont judge them based on rankings and rumors. go visit for yourself and see which campus you are more comfortable on.

I agree completely with kid. Also just wanted to add that I don’t think in all of my time at GW I ever heard of someone saying they wished they went to Georgetown. In fact, there is kind of a light-hearted rivalry between us- we kind of make fun of the Georgetown people, haha.

I went to AU but I would agree with gwsenior. I’ve never heard any of my friends at GW or AU wishing they had gotten in. The schools are all very different in ways which are not at all reflected in the rankings. I got into gtown and didn’t like the fit and haven’t regretted that decision at all.

Its a personal preference. Several years after you graduate, it will most likely not matter where you went to college. Since both colleges are very expensive, go somewhere where you will be happy and get your moneys worth.

I agree with the personal preference comment. I’ll be attending GWU this fall (as a transfer student) and the thought of applying to Georgetown didn’t even really cross my mind, not because I didn’t think I couldn’t get accepted and had to “settle” for GWU. GWU’s location, courses, and internship/job opportunities all successfully drew me in with no second thoughts.

Okay thanks. It’s not that I thought that was true, it’s just that I wanted to know what people at these schools thought.

Unless you are planning to transfer, once you are in a college, you tend not to pay much attention to other schools. But hey, thats just me! :)
