GWU Students: Speak up!

So yeah, well, I haven't been accepted or rejected yet, but GWU is definitely one of my top choices at this point. If there are any current GWU students on this board, please list some of your favorite/least favorite things about American ...and why I should choose it over American!

well, first of all, GW is ranked much higher than American is. in terms of which college is the best in Washington, D.C., Georgetown is obviously the best, followed by GW, then American, Catholic, George Mason, etc. GW is definitely more respected and more well-known than American University is.

second, it's so much easier to get into American U than to GW. your stats don't have to be stellar to be accepted into American.

third, American also doesn't have much of a campus. I live nearby D.C. so I have seen its campus many times, and it's not really that nice. although GW doesn't really have much of a campus either, its location is still superior to American's... and if your intended major is IR or Poli Sci, why would you choose American over GW? GW is only 4 blocks away from the White House so there's plenty more activities and internships available around.

the only thing negative thing i have to say about GW is its price tag. it IS probably the most expensive college in the nation, but american's tuition fee isn't that much lower... so GW is more worth the value.

anyway, i would recommend GW over American any day. even if i wasn't attending GW, i would still recommend it. there's just no doubt that it's the better of the two.

haha, i'm probably going to have many American University students/fans hating on me now. ohhh well.

not that am disagreeing with your g-dub love, but does gw being four blocks away make a big difference as opposed to american being a mile and a half away when being placed in an internship?

nah, not really, i guess... GW is just an a cooler location than American is.

GWU's dorms were also ammmaaaazinngggg. I know it's silly to base a decision off of something as small and petty as dorms, but with GWU versus American, it's a relatively large influence for me.

au contraire, i think that dorms are a very worthy thing to base your decision off of! After all you are going to be living there for the next four years, and you're right, GW by far has the best dorms of any school I've looked at.

Just the fact that every dorm has its own bathroom is quite inticing.
