I was wondering how those of you accepted at GW made your GW application stand out? And also what made you choose GW over other schools? thanks!

I showed intense interest in attending GW. I loved the location and all that GW and DC had to offer. I was looking for more than just a college campus but instead a school that was located in an exciting area...

How did you show your intense interest in attending GW?

^ me too. I did it through my essay, which told specifically why i love the school.

I said that the minute I stepped on campus I knew that this was the school for me. After many other visits to other colleges, I felt a connection to GWU. I also said what I loved about Washington.

Thanks! If you dont mind me asking, what were your academic credentials?

haha me too meadesport.

"I said that the minute I stepped on campus I knew that this was the school for me."

Isn't that the truth? I felt the same way. I had heard a lot about how there was no campus, and it was all spread out, and then I got there, and saw the gates, and the quad, and University Yard, and I wondered what people were talking about. I think the fact that you don't have to walk up a big hill to a mediocre dining hall is a plus, not a negative. Add to that that you are 2 blocks from the National Mall and nearly as close to the White House. The climate is very pleasant, nowhere near as cold as the NY area where I am from. Excellent Greek life. Tons of entertainment options. What's not to like?

IvyBound23,
I had a 4.0 gpa, top 14%ile of my graduating class and a 30 on the ACT. My mother also went to GW.

Meadesport, Does GW look highly upon alumni relation?

IvyBound23. I am not sure how they look at alumni relation. It is more important to show real interest, and have a decent GPA and SAT Or ACT. What are your stats?

Well, i have a 4.3 weighed gpa. havent taken SAT's yet. im also graduating a yr. early (will that look bad?) I've taken alot of AP's and am involved with the basic clubs, model UN and aca-deca team lol. and I've visited the campus 3 times and am extremely interested in attending GW.

oh and im also in the top 8%.

It seems like you are doing all of the right things. And, have a really good chance of getting in

Thanks! but would graduating a yr. early hurt my chances because they cant see three yrs of grades?

IvyBound - 3 years of grades instead of 4 years might hurt IF a) you have an average gpa (which you don't), and b) if your SAT's and Subject tests are in their mid- to low points. Since your gpa is 4.3w, so long as your SAT's and Subject tests are strong, they will most likely assume that the 4 year would just be more of the same.

ok good lol. Hayden- if you dont mind me asking, what were your stats?

I wouldn't worry. You have very good stats. Maybe some more extracurriculars and community service would do the trick. Also, write some good essays. My stats were a lot worse than yours, but I got in.
