GWU transfer issues...

I would post this on the George Washington board but it's always dead and I'm curious if this is the norm at all colleges.

So, I emailed GW to ask if they thought one of my courses would transfer...keep in mind I have taken about 18 classes at my current community college.

She said yes it would but they only allow 3 classes to be applied to their general education system requirements...which consists of like 15 different classes...uh what?

Is this a normal thing for transferring into colleges? The reason I went to a community college was so I could go to a more expensive private university but only three of my classes will go towards their general education requirements. Does this sound a bit off to anyone else?

As far as I know my D1s transfer school took all of her units from her first school (1 year). I agree with you that limiting it to three classes can set you back quite a bit. Can your other units be applied towards your major?

Agree with entomom, I knew that my old school credits would transfer to my new school because they’re in that consortium of universities of the washington metropolitan area but also a school I applied to at home would only accept like 3 classes too. Sometimes you can dispute it so maybe see if GWU has that?
