Accepted bab64022??? Congratulations!! Mind posting stats for us all? Also - what state do you live in (to judge when we can expect ours timewise) and when did you submit your final documents for review?

Congratulations again!

Thanks,

I live in Northern Virginia, so it was probably only in the mail a day or so.

I had a 3.8 GPA w/ 30 credits (at time of application) applying for a BACCY at the GWSB (inc 2 calc and 2 physics). Had 2 letters of recommendation from ACCY professor and physics professor from my CC. Didn’t submit any HS info, and I’m also a vet - Army 63M (Bradley Mech - absolutely no help there ~ ) 2 tours Iraq.

I was worried being too late to get a Yellow Ribbon slot, but according to this release, GWU only had 52 out of 360 apply for undergraduate support last year, so I don’t think it will fill up this year either.

That is good news for everyone here looking for the yellow ribbon financial support.

I contacted the Vet’s Office back in April about the same concern- here’s the response:

Dear *,
GW provides 240 spaces for both new and returning students. Last year we still had about 100 un-used spaces at our foggy bottom campus. We do not anticipate going over our cap of Yellow Ribbon Program slots, but I cannot predict how many applications we will recieve. I hope this helps and please let us know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Megan

Subject: Applicant Pool & Transfer Student Questions
To: vetserve@gwu.edu

Hello Megan and Matthew,

I received your email this morning regarding the YRP form availability
today! I am very excited, but I have a few questions which are making
me worry…

Does GWU provide 240 new slots per year, or are there 240 slots available
total at GWU? In other words, do participants from previous years
take slots in the 240 available for this year?

I am applying as a transfer student and won’t hear back on my
admittance until sometime in May. I am worried that there may not be
slots available if I receive an offer of admission weeks after other applicants
can submit their forms.

Accepted to the Elliott School! Got my big and heavy envelope today in NY. I got no information about scholarships or financial aid though… and I’d need some type of something to attend so I don’t know if that’s a bad sign. Did anyone get a financial aid package with their acceptance package? I was hoping for a PTK scholarship too.

Stats:
Year: Junior
School: small SUNY school, not prestigious or competitive to get into, but a step up from CC
GPA: 3.76
Courses: My whole first year I took mostly intro classes (100 level) and struggled with some bio and math courses (totally not my strong point, but had to fill requirements). For the fall semester I took a challenging courseload and got a 4.0.
Recommendations: Had a teacher who knows me very well to write me a letter- he mentioned my political activism in it.
Activities: President of Psychology Club at my school, politically active, community service/volunteer work, plus I work about 16 hours at a hospital as a clerical assistant.

Anything else just ask :)

I’m crossing my fingers for the rest of you!

Congratulations peacelovensarah! Was it in a manila envelope or a normal white business envelope? It doesn’t really matter I guess…but its a fun question to ask :)

Also - when did you submit your final documents for your application?

Thanks! Congrats

Anyone else hear today?

Haven’t been home to check yet…

Home and nada in the mail except a manila envelope that made my heart skip a beat…and then dropped it into the pit of my tummy…just something from the army for my hubby. sigh still waiting…

@kitnkat03- As far as I remember (the envelope is in the garbage already) it was a white manila envelope. It obviously has the GWU return address in the corner. It was pretty big- I noticed it the second I opened the mailbox. I submitted my application literally the day before the deadline, so March 31st. All of my materials were probably there by then, but no earlier than March 15th.

This is going to be a hard decision. I was also accepted to UNC-CH for political science which is tempting.

Just checked my mail when I got home and there was the packet. I was accepted to to the school of business with the full ptk scholarship.

So I guess that means I didn’t get a PTK scholarship. Bummer. I should have sent copies of my membership information. I didn’t do it because the website was very vague, and I figured that since I noted PTK in my application they would consider me for it and they could confirm it later on (after I accepted acceptance or something).

Kulakai, did you apply for financial aid? If so, did you get any financial aid information in your acceptance package?

The PTK scholarship was mentioned on the very first page of the acceptance packet and I think financial aid comes later on though I didn’t apply. I was also surprised at the number of credits they would transfer over, 84.5 in my case. Guess I’ll probably be going to gwu then since it’ll be much cheaper than American if I don’t get accepted by my reach school.

kulakai, when did you submit your application? Did you say you live in the southwest as well?

I submitted part I & II on 02/07/10 and I’m in Las Vegas. Someone said they are doing it on a rolling basis but then someone who received their decision already said they submitted it a day before the deadline so that proves that maybe it isn’t on a rolling basis?

Kulakai & Peacelovensarah, did your online account say anything about your acceptance or did it still say “under review” at the time you received your packet?

@makindecisions - Mine still says under review as of this minute so it seems they were right in that they are just mailing decisions instead of changing the status online. I imagine everyone else should hear today or tomorrow.

I was also accepted but I didn’t receive any scholarships. Any idea when they will send out the financial aid?

kulakai, thanks, yeah I hope it isn’t based on when you submitted because I submitted probably a month after you and I need a decision as soon as possible.

@rcwhite - peacelovensarah received an acceptance packet earlier this week and she submitted her application the day before the deadline I submitted mine Mar 31st too…

mail should be here in a couple hours…
