I already responded to your other post on the AU board, but I just thought I should point this out:

Remember how I said I thought I would like the people better at AU? Check out the first response to your post and you'll see why. Most of what I hear about GW undergrads is that they are wealthy and snobby, and that's most of what I felt when I visited (both times).

How can you take someone seriously whose biography about herself is "I'm hot. That's basically it"?

I guess what I'm saying is just to look beyond the US News rankings (which have already sustained heavy criticism for being based on criteria that have nothing to do with education) and see what you like about each school for yourself.

I used to attend GW before I transferred (not by choice).

While there are some snobby students, I really don't think it's that different from AU. If anything, AU is just as snobby of a school -- just with lower stats. The rankings may be flawed, but GW's students are stronger academically, period. Look at our stats, look at our resources, and meet the professors. I definitely think there is a difference.

There are obviously some detestable people at GW (believe me, I know... I encountered not only snobby students, but several mentally unstable ones as well), but in the end, the good ones are the ones you remember after you leave the school. When I think back at GW, I think about all the really great friends I met on the debate team, in College Republicans, etc. I don't think about the random girl who made a comment about my backpack at the gym or whatever.

If you're accepted to both GW and AU, I would definitelyrecommend GW!

I am in the same position, and I definitely prefer GW after having visited both and spending time at AU last summer. Plus, I know several people who were accepted at AU and not GW, so it's generally true that the student body at GW will have higher qualifications.

I'm having the same problem deciding where to go!! I've decided that I want to go to GW, but AU has given me most of the tuition in scholarship. I don't know if I can afford GW and haven't received a letter from it in the mail yet with the financial aid info!!

I think that both universities have the same resources available (jobs, internships, etc.) but GW does have a better reputation. A lot of people can get into AU, but many people get rejected from GW.

You know I had the same problem, but for me it became easier. AU didn't offer me hardly any aid and I never could talk to an admissions representative. GW responded more quickly when I called and gave me a better package and for that I will be attending GW.

I posted above already, but I think it is generally better to go to the "better" school in the same city. When we're talking different cities, that's another story, but if they are in the same city, def. go to the better one.

I'm not a GW troll or anything; I would say the same thing if a person was deciding between GW and Georgetown.
