Looking at the rankings, Case Western might be the better school, but when you look at opportunities, student life, and location, I feel more attracted to GWU.

As of now, I want to go to GWU, but my parents, being asian, want me to go to the "better school" which, in their idea, is the ranking number of the school.

My parents have a flight booked for Thursday to Cleveland for a visit to Case Western.. but they want to cancel the flight if I've finalized my decision on GWU.

Should I try going to Cleveland to check the campus out? Or should I just go to GWU and save some money?

Please help, I need an answer by 9:30 ): thanks in advance.

You have to experience both institutions. On paper GWU might seem more attractive in the student life, opportunities, and location sense, but you truly will not know if Case can offer the same until you visit and get a “feel” for the campus. I thought I was dead set on going to Boston because I wanted a city that was “alive”, but it wasn’t until I visited both institutions that I discovered that actually Case was better suited for me. I love being at Case and I know it’s the college for me. Now I highly discourage choosing a school just because of its ranking. I know people who’ve gone this route and ended up hating their college experience. Give Case a try and see if it changes your mind, if not, convince your parents to let you make your own decision.
